![]() ![]() "The Lightning Thief" is an exhilarating blend of Greek mythology and modern-day adventure, with an independent reading level for grades 4th to 8th. Percy Jackson, a relatable and courageous protagonist, takes readers on a thrilling journey filled with humor, heart, and heroic challenges. Awards: School Library Journal Best Book of the Year (2005). Mark Twain Award (2008). Rebecca Caudill Young Readers’ Book Award (2009). My first impressions (Writing down my first impressions of the book. NOT an in-depth review. Reviews base on personal enjoyment.) RANK: Superb 1/17/2021 I forgot to mention. I'm doing a Rick Riordan Binge this year. I'm going to read all of his middle grade books. This includes: Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase and The Trials of Apollo. 1/3/2021 This is a reread. I haven’t read this book since maybe middle school. I don’t remember a lot about the book. That being said I still love this book. The thing I like the most about the book is that Riordan manages to write about Greek gods in a way that a kid in middle school won’t be overwhelmed. Every time the characters talk about events that are related to a god, monster, or person; they’ll give short summary of the story. Readers don’t have to know anything about Greek Mythology in order to enjoy the book. The pacing is a great. Nothing felt too fast or slow. The world building is amazing. The Greek gods are not stuck in their old way 100%. They have adapted to modern times (the time that took place in the book.) They’re a few pop culture references but not enough to pull you out of the story. Characters are well written. For the main fellowship, none of them are annoying kids. The plot is fun. I do like the places they visit and scenarios they go through. My favorite being the Casino. I did like what happens in the end Overall, this is a fun book and I’m glad that I’ve reread the book.
"The Lightning Thief" is perfectly paced, with electrifying moments chasing each other like heartbeats, and mysteries opening out in sequence. The action never feels gratuitous; it draws its depth from the myths at its source. Belongs to SeriesIs contained inPercy Jackson e gli dei dell'Olimpo.
