I'm not sure we have an ongoing thread for current Folio Society discounts in the form of codes etc, so I thought I'd start one.
Easy Peasy: If you know of a code, just share and care!
It matters not which country you are in, just post it with as much detail as possible.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For example: (this is not a real code) FS3000 - 90% off all Limited Editions, valid until Oct 5th, for customers in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Minimum spend (ex.shipping) EC$2000
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You might want to use this format:
Code FS3000
Discount/Offer 90% off all Limited Editions
Dates Until Oct 5th 2017
Region Saint Kitts and Nevis
Other details Minimum spend (ex.shipping) EC$2000
Cheers

Someone mentioned JC22 in another thread?

>5 LesMiserables: JC22 is an offer for 'new Folio customers only' - £10 off and free delivery (plus a free 2018 diary if 2 books are ordered). Orders to be made by 15 December.

So according to google exchange rates us Yanks are making out like bandits. By a few bucks, anyway.
5 pounds = 6.59 US$
10 US$ = 13.19 Aus
Then of course one would have to apply same ratios to overall prices so who knows.

This Yank is not feeling the largesse, given the prices for books in US dollars. I'll be waiting for the New Year's sale, and will try to be patient with regard to the newer releases.
ETA: And now I've received a second email today, welcoming me to The Folio Society, and indicating there will be a catalog to peruse with my first order. Mind you, I have 200+ Folio books, most purchased directly from Folio, and was a member for probably close to two decades before being dismembered. Ugh.

Ah, I'm not the only one then.
'welcome to the home of beautiful books.' Umm, only 16 years too late.
'Your parcel will soon be on its way'. Umm, it arrived weeks ago?
Has our beloved society completely lost the plot?
I have a sense of deja vu here (as in there are endless threads on this topic already) but, what happened to the days when Joe, or somebody else, would write to you personally because you had bought X by Y and ask if you might be interested in pre-ordering/reserving their soon-to-be-released new volume by Y?
Is this an example of having all the benefits of membership without being a member (i.e., addle-pated codswallop)?

eBay code allegedly valid for 20% off purchases above £20, excluding postage and up to a maximum reduction of £75, until 6 PM GMT which means two and a half hours from now: PNY2018. Might just help with any B-I-N Folio purchase someone may be pondering. Now to see if there's anything for me...

I don't think anything is sold directly by eBay, is it? So I assume it should work for items listed by both business and private sellers.

A bright good morning to all!
This is my first post here but come September 2021, I will have completed FOUR glorious years of wilful engagement in procuring, haggling, sniping, gawking, foul utterances, self-induced insomnia and much more in my journey to acquire beautiful Folio Society books beyond my means; all the while benefiting from the wealth of information made freely available on this forum.
*tip hat* to Dr. Carter (wcarter) for his assiduous "Folio Archive book reviews" which have enabled and set me scrambling simultaneously on countless occasions!
The Folio Society have stopped shipping to my destination but were kind enough to send this email yesterday:

One copy of The Illustrated Man ordered, with an order confirmation e-mail received from FS) but how seriously crap that you've received that mail from Folio after being told by them that they can no longer ship to your country. Where do you live, by the way? If you're ever in London, or if I pass your way, perhaps we can share a pot of tea, liberally sugared with FAD :)

I still struggle to understand why Folio doesn't make more widespread use of single-use promo codes or other measures to prevent their wonton circulation. Not that I'm complaining from a customer point of view! But it seems like a modest technical challenge to have these promos that are targeted at specific groups be individualised and single-use.

I enjoy such jokes, and am especially pleased that I was able to exceed their 'one wish' to have me 'come back' by bringing many back (3 and counting)!
>39 Jayked: ...earned by buying nothing for over a year.
Indeed, my last buy was the New Year Sale 2019. Since then, I have succumbed to various delights on the secondary market.
>40 cronshaw: Well done! How much do FS charge for shipping locally?
Not sure if it is due to COVID-19 restrictions, but India is not listed in any of the exclusions under the non-EU Standard/ Express Delivery lists. I continue to receive a steady supply of books from the local post office.
Tea or something stronger or both, though I will not recommend passing by in the near future if you value your life :)

>50 Charon49: Perhaps it was connected to the cost of your order, >35 mr.philistine: post above mentioned a minimum spend of £39.95 so if you only chose one book it might not have met the equivalent minimum spend on the Australian site. Not sure how exactly the prices correspond to the UK site (where I am), but on the UK site Around the World in Eighty Days is £39.95, so might be worth taking the AU$ price for that book as a guide for the minimum spend in Australia.
Edit: Or it's possible there may be different codes for the different currency regions I suppose, so the same code may be valid in the UK and ROW as both regions use GBP, but Australia, Canada and the US may vary?

If it's not working for you, ensure:
1. You're signed in.
2. It's just a single book being ordered.
3. The book costs at least 39.95GBP.
At least that's how I got it applied for me. Thinking of purchasing Behind the Wall.

It's working for me (Germany). But it doesn't really feel sensible to be purchasing Crooked House for £48 considering the added tax and £25 shipping, since it still feels too much. I will just wait till my next order (possibly at the time of the next sale). In that way, I will not be paying double for shipping. Happy (and a little envious) for the people in the UK, who essentially get a book at a huge rebate.

I ordered ‘Period Piece’ by Gwen Raverat, which I noticed now has a low stock counter (91).

When you completed the FS survey did they ask you what books or genres you would be interested in? It seems like that would be crucial info for them to gather too!

It's already gone! Thank you for posting it and I hope someone managed to get something lovely :)

>86 mr.philistine: Sorry for the slow reply to your message, but I was the one who used your voucher. I bought the SE of The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, which, without the discount code, would have sat on my wishlist indefinitely. The book arrived this afternoon and I'm really happy with it.
So thank you very much for the code, it's greatly appreciated.

For anyone for whom the code doesn't work, I think this may be if you've already used your own birthday code since this code became valid in September 2021. The code doesn't work for me but I already used my birthday code in December and I'm fairly certain it was the exact same code. I think the birthday codes are one-time use only, per account.
If anyone hasn't used their birthday code since September and is still having trouble applying this one, you may need to check that you're logged into your account before applying the code in the basket.

Just tried it again and it worked - thank you! I bought the wonderful Caged Bird :)

I used TNUR5D this morning for $20 off.

>96 Tanglewood: Thanks! I just used it, too. :D
99copperstatelawyer
Thanks, it still works!
101owf_117
I tried T23BPL but it didn't work for me, however TNUR5D still works. I just used it in conjunction with the current $30 off promotion and got $50 off my order.
103treereader
Don't forget - these codes aren't usually meant to work on new releases.
105brhav
Regarding T23BPL:
'Excludes the purchase of titles released after 1 September 2022 (see website for full details), limited editions, e-Gift cards and delivery charges. Voucher is one use only. Cannot be combined with any other voucher or promotion. Offer ends midnight Wednesday 31 May 2023'

The code TEASTER9 can be used for a discount of £10 against a minimum purchase of £49.95 until 8th May.
Useful for the Man in the High Castle (RRP £49.95), or either Rubicon or Dynasty (RRP £59.95) purchased directly from the Folio Society when the current secondary market prices for both are absurd. Having recently received SPQR from FS, I can commend its production qualities as a fine edition (the copious spread of illustrations, cloth binding and cloth-bound slipcase are all magnificent) for anyone looking for an excuse to use the voucher :)

Any active FS coupon codes at the moment? Looking at getting the two Shirley Jackson books plus Trainspotting and it would be nice to offset the US shipping a bit.
114AMindForeverVoyaging
>113 Shadekeep: TPGDM2 might still work for $20 off orders of at least $96, excluding LEs.

>113 Shadekeep: I think the problem is partly that you are trying to buy new editions. For example, code TMAG4 from the magazine says in the T&Cs:
*Terms and conditions apply. Excludes the purchase of titles released after 1 September 2022, limited editions, e-Gift cards and delivery charges. Voucher is one use only. Cannot be combined with any other voucher or promotion. Offer ends midnight Thursday 3 August 2023.

TNUR5D worked for me today.

10% off using WMAG7. Valid until 20th December (according to a post I found on reddit).
As usual, it doesn't work with the newer releases.

I haven't received a birthday voucher in years, so I called them up. They say it'll be here on my birthday tomorrow. Here's hoping. :)
122Bookworm59
And they forgot.
123Bookworm59
And I called them up, and they gave me a code over the phone, and the code doesn't work. This is getting to be quite the saga.
124SF-72
I don't understand why on earth this birthday voucher thing isn't working for everyone who input their birthday. I always got mine, but keep hearing about this issue on here.
125Bookworm59
I'm glad to report they fixed the problem at last! They have been very responsive through all this, to their credit.
126coynedj
I input my birthday a long time ago (and checked recently, to make sure it's there) and have never received a birthday voucher.
128drizzled
>127 siiren: sadly no codes at the moment
129santiamen
Do they ever offer new codes when the new collection gets released or is that the least likely time for it to happen? I'd like to place a bigger order so it'd be handy.
130antinous_in_london
>129 santiamen: New releases are usually exempt from voucher codes (I think around 6 months used to be the approximate cut-off ).
131santiamen
>130 antinous_in_london: I didn't mean to buy the new releases specifically, but rather whether at the time of the release there might be a new voucher code released as well (but for other titles). I didn't word it very clearly.
132Cat_of_Ulthar
>129 santiamen: If there's a magazine released alongside the Summer collection it will probably include a discount code for older releases.
133santiamen
>132 Cat_of_Ulthar: But the magazine will probably come later than the 7th though, right? My issue is one of the titles I want to buy is Japanese Tales, which might be gone by then. I imagine there won't be an immediate reprint.
134Cat_of_Ulthar
>133 santiamen: Correct, the magazine won't be available before the books are released. (Unless somebody's in touch with The Mole!)
Folio's website says there are still 72 copies left and I'd be surprised to see that many go in the next few days.
For perspective: Strange & Norrell has been selling fast and there are 159 copies left and it's a 'First printing' whereas Japanese Tales is a reprinted title.

I don't suppose there are any codes active at the moment from the Autumn/Christmas collections? I was holding out for them before the latest rise in prices, so I'm even more reluctant to place an order without one now!
137HonorWulf
>136 Xandian97: Correct - no codes in those collections this year. As far as I am aware, the birthday codes are the only active discounts at this time.
138j3tang
Kinda disappointing that the magazine codes don’t exist anymore — best bet at this point is to wait for free shipping around Christmas? If they even bring that back …
139woodstock8786
Curious, just realised that I didn’t get a birthday coupon this year… the newsletter distribution is really a mystery to me
140woodstock8786
>138 j3tang: sadly that didn’t make a comeback this year. I guess I will wait out the New Year’s sale then…
141LesMiserables
Got a $10 voucher for my upcoming birthday by email today. Minimum spend $30, valid for 30 days from issue.
If they are having a New Year sale it might come in handy.

I assume voucher code was received because it was the beginning of the month in which your birthday occurs in?
Mine is also in December, but year after year I never receive a code and I have to ask for one through support. Each time I’m asked by support, did you enter your birthday into your profile? And the answer is yes ….

146BooksFriendsNotFood
I received one for the first time ever this year, and I'm thinking it's because it's the first time I haven't actively been buying FS. The last book I bought was The Book Thief a couple months ago and I received a voucher, whereas when I bought FS books pretty consistently I never got one.
147antinous_in_london
No birthday voucher so far, but for some reason they did send me a Christmas card this year ! 😂
148HonorWulf
I've never received a birthday voucher, but mine is in the summer after the big sale and well before the autumn release, so the timing never quite works out despite the 30 day window.
149BooksFriendsNotFood

I was really hoping for a pre Christmas free shipping promo, but that isn’t coming. And sorry but I just realised that ROW now has to pay more than the UK; for how long has it been like this? £90 for a Night to remember, plus £32 for shipping, because I can only use express shipping, is getting a bit much I dare say.
Hopefully there will be some promo in the future or voucher code or something, otherwise, I will need to abstain for a good long while.

156HonorWulf
>155 woodstock8786: They changed the international store over the summer. In case of ROW, the inflated fee does cover the custom taxes in some countries, but in others, it's just a surcharge.
157woodstock8786
>156 HonorWulf: ah thanks for that, I haven’t ordered in a while, so I just saw it. That is really confusing, because when buying the book for £90, they add the shipping (£25 for a single book) and the tax (£7.52), but the total is still £115.
So they kind of have the tax covered by the book price?
Confusing

158HonorWulf
>157 woodstock8786: Yes, it's very confusing since you don't see the tax disappear until the final invoice. It's still better than us poor chaps in the USA store - we pay both the inflated price and the taxes.
159woodstock8786
>158 HonorWulf: So taxes on top additionally? Great…a bit aggravating.
160HonorWulf

Both my emails - the original and the reminder - said £10 but in the event the code discounted £15 so they must have recently decided to increase it and that applied retrospectively.
