Is there a way to change your profile name? My profile name is the name of my town, I'd like it to be the name of my house.

Yes there is:
Go to your profile
Click Edit profile and account (upper right on the page)
Then, on the left towards the top is "Account Settings". Click that.
At the bottom, under "Big Steps," is an option to change your member name.

Good luck! k4k

Make sure after you change your username you LOG OUT and then log back in with your new name

How long does it usually take for the username to change?

I requested the name change three days ago and it hasn't happened yet. "User name change was requested Jun 23 @ 2:01pm" I thought it was done through a script, so I'm puzzled. I paid for a lifetime membership in 2006 and was able to change my username instantly in the past.

I logged out and cleared my cache and cookies. Tried logging back in with the new username to no avail. I easily logged back in with my old username and password. No problem.

I assume that this thread is from May of this year, apologies if it is older than that. Thanks in advance for any help. :-)

>5 rabbit-stew: I'm just seeing this, but I already ran username changes today. Can you confirm your new username for me? I'm not sure if it's rabbit-stew or if that's your old username.

I did see some old username change requests getting stuck in our new script, recently, so I might need to dig further if your username change hasn't been run yet. I run them every weekday morning, usually, for what it's worth.

I guess things can go wrong too, but it took me less than 1 day.

skinning_rabbit, which once replaced hunting_rabbits, which replaced hmm_rabbit_for_dinner_would_be_nice.

These options don't seem to be there anymore.

>12 NDFranciscans: Did you click "account settings" on the left? The options are all still there for me.

This topic of conversation develops into a nice short story :-) methinks. Beware "big steps"! A happy new existance to the changers in this bookish universe!

>9 kristilabrie: hi, I'm guessing you're part of the admin team -- I followed the instructions in >2 krazy4katz:, and then tried what was suggested in >4 norabelle414: but it didn't work.

And I put a requet in (having oreviously found the instructions in >2 krazy4katz:) about 3 weeks ago. So, far, the changed profile name does not work. I'm just wondering if I am missing a step?

>15 AnishaInkspill: Thanks for posting! I'm not seeing a request from you on our end: can I ask, what browser and OS (operating system) are you using (e.g. Google Chrome, version 90 and Windows 7, etc.)? Or, can you verify that you have JavaScript enabled in your browser? There might be some issues with a specific setup.

Since I'm only here very part-time, now, if you can email the entire support team (at info@librarything.com) with the username you want, we can run the request for you. You'll just want to make sure you're logged out before we can run the change. (So, if you email us, it'll be a quicker turnaround.) I hope this helps!
