Republican Rep. Jack Nelsen said he was "embarrassed" that he suggested his experience as a "lifelong dairy farmer" offered him insight into reproductive issues, according to the Idaho Statesman.
"I've milked a few cows, spent most of my time walking behind lines of cows, so if you want some ideas on repro and the women's health thing, I have some definite opinions," Nelson said with a laugh during a meeting of the state's House Agricultural Affairs Committee, per the Statesman.
Here’s an opinion piece responding; which mentions a couple more faux pas by other congressional reps:

Sequins are appropriate, but not elbows, in Missouri Congress:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/01/12/missouri-women-dress-code-arm...
The Republican-controlled Missouri House of Representatives used its session’s opening day Wednesday to tighten the dress code for female legislators, while leaving the men’s dress code alone.
The changes were spearheaded by state Rep. Ann Kelley (R), a co-sponsor who was among the Republicans seeking to require women to wear a blazer when in the chamber. She was met by swift opposition from Democrats who called it “ridiculous.”
The state House eventually approved a modified version of Kelley’s proposal, which allows for cardigans as well as jackets, but still requires women’s arms to be concealed. Missouri Democrats tore into Republicans for pushing the new restrictions on what women in the chamber could wear.
from another source:
"I never thought my first national interview would be about what I can and cannot wear as a female lawmaker," said Democratic Missouri Representative Ashley Aune.
Aune gave an impassioned statement against the bill on the House floor, asking her fellow lawmakers, "Do you know what it feels like to have a bunch of men in this room looking at your top, trying to decide whether it's appropriate or not?"

Trump Attacks CNN Anchor And Former WH Press Nemesis Kaitlan Collins Over New Show’s Ratings
CNN should’ve listened to me. After all, my advice is as insightful as it is free. Nurse Ratched was never going to succeed as an anchor, much less a prime-time anchor, much less the 9:00 p.m. anchor. Collins has all the appeal of a first wife, so why put her directly against MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Monday nights and Alex Wagner Tuesday through Friday nights?

>13 2wonderY: Trump likes to talk about a two tiered justice system and here again he plays 'I'm a victim' card. I'm pretty sure most people who took a few moments--whether black, white, Asian, Native American and all the hybrids that can be had from those things--would understand that someone carrying 91 felony charges would not have walked out of the Fulton County Jail a free man the day of their arraignment. They would have been staying a while like until the day their trial began and until it concluded and afterwards if they were convicted. For most it would only take one felony charge and if they were a minority race the likelihood greater they would be held but even so and even just for the smaller number of Georgia charges than the 91 they would not have been let go.
So far Trump has been an example of preferential treatment again and again......and the prosecutors and judges know that. They also have let him get away with all kinds of outrageous public outbursts--including threats to witnesses, jurors, prosecutors, judges that would have put anyone else in lockup. It's not been the greatest look for the justices IMO allowing him to continue to walk free. He's been warned but so far those warnings haven't had a lot of teeth. Those warnings for someone else again and that person is arrested and tossed into a cage until his/her trial is over.

Ted Cruz the other day was all phony angry that the Biden administration is going to make it so that people can't have more than two beers a week. Where do right wingers come up with this shit? It's like right out of their ass.....and it's well past the point of rational but the whole point is to push gullible people's outrage buttons. My wife's nephew was telling her that by this summer he might have to quit his job because the Biden administration is going to have pushed gasoline prices up to $12 a gallon. He's a good guy but he's also listening to some Qanon happy co-workers. His dad took him aside to tell him to stop listening to that crap. He makes over $30 an hour with an hours worth of driving every day. Bullshit rumors like this are just flying from one republican pol to another and then flys out through all their media and it targets their own voters reality.

.....and on Newsman Megyn Kelly tells the host that Michele Obama 'hates America' after she and this host had been discussing Michele as a potential replacement for Biden. They were saying she had the 'it' factor meaning for right wing republicans these days they see a person's celebrity as the most important factor for someone becoming a President. Well they've been down that road and to them Trump was such a success. Why Megyn thinks Michele hates America.....well that's pretty much just something you can say to a captive TV audience that's already on your side. Megyn thinks she has the gravitas in any case to make such a claim. Another bullshit artist AFAIC.
I was never much of a fan of Biden but he's done a surprisingly good job. Just to mention a couple good things---getting us out of Afghanistan, his determination over and over to roll back student college debt, the bills he's signed have been few but good ones, he's been pushing labor reforms and anyone who wants a job these days and can't find one is just not trying. The economy seems to me is better than conservatives like to make out and it's worse than it should be because of the brakes conservatives put on it.....and then blame others for. Does Joe slur his words and stagger around sometimes? Yeah. So what. Compared to the guy he replaced who is a full on criminal and coup starter he's been a breath of fresh air. Not a fan of celebrities for president whether they're silver spoon retail developer crooks or their family has already had a POTUS. I don't think Michele Obama is interested anyway. It's one of these nonsense non things that republicans like Megyn Kelly like to talk about.

On the subject of MTG's commenting on the Washington DC Jail and that the Jan. 6 defendants imprisonment in that jail is both 'poor and illegal'. Is it just poor and illegal for the Jan. 6 defendants or is it poor and illegal for everyone in the DC jail? and if she's going there is she ready and willing to go around the country looking at every jail and prison in the United States?

Police union leader said woman killed by Seattle officer ‘had limited value’ (Guardian)
And that's one of the fundamental problems in the world. There are many people in the world, including people in positions of leadership and authority, who really do believe that some human lives have less value than others. As her uncle said, “The family has nothing to say... Except I wonder if these men’s daughters or granddaughters have value. A life is a life.”
A Seattle police union leader was caught on camera joking about a woman who was killed by a police cruiser, saying her life had “limited value” and the city should “just write a check”...

Murdering and/or disappearing the homeless and other perceived undesirables was regular business in late 20th century South American dictatorships. Ideas like that travel. Many police and military of these countries were either trained by US advisors in their own countries and/or at The School of the Americas in Fort Benning Ga. That school was closed but that doesn't mean that that kind of training has altogether stopped. One might say it became too notorious and those behind the scenes just took it out of sight. When you see things like Abu Ghraib or the Guantanamo prison....hear about black sites you should know that there are those in the United States who have power who will take extralegal measures. It all permeates down through our legal system and into our police departments. The Los Zetas cartel by the way began with Mexican military and Police who trained at Ft. Benning just deciding there was more to be gained on the illegal side of things and going rogue. I would suggest that the corruption was already within.

Labelling people as sub-human or less than human, or creating gradations of human value, is one of the recognised precursors of genocide, as we saw in Nazi Germany, or more recently in Rwanda and other situations. It needs to be exposed and challenged at every opportunity lest it become the de facto accepted norm in society. I think it's part of the dynamic against transgender people that pnppl is exposing in another thread.

That asshole did not just make that up out of his own individual pumpkin head. This is a time-honored concept within the southern redneck culture and no doubt exists today among many extant rednecks. I know of examples wherein a murderer got off because the jury figured the victim was a scumbag who "needed killing", etc.

Good job, Tommy Tuberville. In my lifetime, we've gone from well-known conservatives arguing for the Western Canon to conservatives basically saying "poetry is gay".
