Welcome to this year's group! I published a book last year, and read only just over half of the number of books I'd read the previous year or two. It's a good reason though :)

Thank you, everyone. I finished writing my first novel last week, which is something I never thought I'd actually do. I will edited it after I write a science fiction story I've had bouncing around in my head for 30 years.

As for my goal, since I've been reading a lot more ebooks over the past few years, I'd like to read 25 physical books from my shelves and 25 ebooks and I'll keep track of both here.

>7 Quaisior: Congratulations! You've done more than probably 95% of people who start a book, but never finish it.
>9 Quaisior: A glutton for punishment! ;)

>10 Jackie_K: Thank you! I just read about that stat the week I was finishing my book and I was shocked. I usually have trouble feeling proud of myself, but I definitely gave myself a pat on the back for finishing a novel (and it's nearly 100K words too so it isn't short!).

As for reading, I'm obsessed with Jessie Mihalik's books, so I'm going to read all of them this year. I loved her Starlight's Shadow Trilogy. My current WIP is somewhat similar, but I've been planning this story for decades, so it's entirely coincidental.

Hi Q, just popping in to see what you have been up to.

>12 connie53: Sorry it took so long to respond. We had an ice storm in April that brought down a lot of limbs from the trees in our back yard and I'm still cleaning them up. I'm going to use them to build raised beds and lattices for my garden, so it's not all bad, but it was terrifying while the storm was happening.

My writing has been sporadic this year, but the novel is progressing anyway. I'm going to edit the first novel this month too. As for reading, I do a little every day so I'm on pace to read 52 books this year. I'm also still homeschooling my daughter and her reading ability kind of exploded this year. She went from really struggling to being quite proficient because we focused heavily on reading for last school year. I'm so proud of her and I'm excited to start handing over middle grade books I've saved for her.

>13 Quaisior: Here i am again, a bit late after your post.

That must have been quite a storm, Q. And what a nice idea to make those beds and lattices for your garden. Very good recycling.

And your daughter is reading books to, excellent. How old is she? I think two of my granddaughters, Fiene and Lonne are ahead with their reading to. So I know how you feel about your daughter. You're a proud mum, I'm a proud grannie. Fiene is reading big books now, she is 8, but I have to be careful with what I give her to read. She might be technically able but she has to understand what the book is about too.

Good luck with writing. I'm in awe.
