Finally Finished February

A storm is raging outside, and roads are closed.

The idea of "Finally Finished February" popped into my mind because what better time to tackle some of those unfinished projects?

Then I thought that others might like to join along too.

So... my thought was if people would like to dig out 3-5 (or more if you're really ambitious!) unfinished items, and describe them for others, or better yet post an image of their current state, and then semi commit to finishing them this month, that might be fun. Tell us what still needs to be done, and if there are any anticipated problems.

Just as an example, here's my list in no particular order:

1. Broken Rib Knit Scarf currently underway.
It still needs about 300m of yarn to be knitted to finish it, and then have the ends sewn in.

2. Raglan cardigan started February 2022.
It needs to be sewn together and then have buttons attached. Luckily the neck and button bands have been done, as I have no idea of what or where the pattern is!

3. Hooked Rug started at Green Mountain this past June.
Needs about 1.5 sq ft to be hooked to complete it. Then the edges need to be whipped to finish it, a perimeter of approximately 9 feet.
It may require some yarn dyeing to match the edges to the background.
I can see putting this off!

4. Aran Sweater started January 2023.
This is an Alice Starmore design. It needs to be sewn together, and then have the neck knitted.

5. A Small Quilted Table Cover about 30" by 30".
This needs to have the last of the hand stitching done, and then the binding.

As usual, I'm overly ambitious, but I did suggest 3-5, not 5!

Good idea. As it happens I unearthed those Asian squares very recently and hope to finish the top so it can be finished.

I have a few quilts that need finishing but I have two baby quilts that I'm going to work on - 1 just needs the binding sewn on and the other is pinned together for quilting so I hope to finish that up too.

I'm hoping to finish my baby blanket project before the end of the month, but it's not a set deadline. As long as it's finished by the beginning of April it should be fine. I'm roughly halfway.

I've finished one of the baby quilts and posted pictures on my thread.

>7 dudes22: Feel free to post here too. We all, well at least me, need inspiration to get it done! I like those quilts you posted.

My update:

Well I managed to finish the Broken Rib Scarf. That wasn't a challenge, apart from convincing myself I had to sew in the ends. Finishing something simple like that was part of my plan, to get me over the initial block.

Last week I took the Aran sweater to my knitting group and started the long process of sewing it together, saddle shoulders and all. I can tell it will take awhile, as I am also sewing in ends, but I am liking the results. Then it will be on to knitting the collar.

However, the month is half gone, so time to speed things up!

>1 SassyLassy: I love this, and will participate... although I confess I probably also need a thread called "Finally STARTED February"... 😳

Or maybe "I need to stop buying new projects February".

>8 SassyLassy: ooh, an Aran sweater. I can't wait to see that!

>9 PlatinumWarlock: "Marching on in March"? - a reward for finishing February!
Seriously though, I know exactly what you mean.

>10 lauralkeet: It's Alice Starmore's Na Craga design, on the cover of this book:

I'm knitting it in unbleached white. I really wanted to do it in plum, but then I saw a friend had done that, so I tell myself the lighter colour shows the cable work better,

>11 SassyLassy: I love the Starmore book, and Na Craga was my first-ever Aran! I made it for my husband, in a sort of purple color. I think you're right about the lighter color showing off the cables. I made a cable cardigan for him too (Jared Flood's Timberline) and he really really wanted it in a sort of charcoal. At the time I didn't realize what I was getting into using such a dark color.

I should make another of Starmore's designs. They are all gorgeous.

That will be gorgeous, Laura!

I have the top of the Asian quilt done now. I may go find a quilter to do the quilting or do some simple pattern myself (it's for me).

Doubt it will get done anytime soon.

>11 SassyLassy: My apologies for mixing you two up! It still is a beautiful project :-)

that cable sweater looks great! I would love to see your version when you finish.

Yeah! I finished my second "finish it in Feb" project - a baby quilt for a shower I'm going to in March right after we get home from vacation.

Although I might work on a couple of things before we leave on vacation next week, my other goal is to gather and organize the various parts of the Christmas quilts I've been making so I can see where I am.

oh no - I think I mistakenly hit "ignore this topic" on my thread. Anyone know a way I can get it back? ok I figured it out. Whew!!

>17 dudes22: Organizing would be a perfect corollary to Finally Finished February. How else could you get anything finished?!
Then again, when it slips over into displacement behaviour, as it does far too often with me, I'm in trouble!

The sweater will be lovely!

Finally finished the sweater and all its ends. Bought some Eucolan yesterday to wash it with, so that will be today's project. I can't imagine how long it will take to dry, and this is supposed to be a very wet weekend, so I won't even have low humidity going for me!

The neckband is one of the things I like best, but it doesn't show well in the picture above, so I'm adding a picture of it from Ravelry

>16 al.vick: I only have an old school phone, the kind that plugs into the wall and you have to be home to answer, so can't take pictures to post. Sometimes I wish I could, but I'm happy not to have a cell phone.
