CAN WE TALK ABOUT IT? - AUGUST 2024

We can talk about almost anything...but please no political comments or discussions.

Wow, it's already August! Hard to believe that this year has gone so quickly.

And can I just say, I am so over having to sign up for yet another service! I was not able to watch the entirety of the 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremonies, because, well, work. And I do miss Paris. And while the TV machine is showing highlights, I want to see *all* of the competition, all of the competitors, without the long camera pans on the stars of their particular sport.

The only way I can do that? Why, subscribe to another service, thank you very much! I finally decided I was becoming old and crotchety and one of my nieces had gotten a subscription and was able to watch all the Opening Ceremony. Plus, the subscription is the only way (now) to watch replays in case I missed an event. Or wanted to catch jumping instead of just dressage.

So, that's my rant for now. I do like watching this service, I'm just insulted? is that the right word? miffed? that I have to pay extra for something that (say it with me now) used to be for free!

This works well on all those pesky things in your life!

I have a question for everyone. I have a love/hate relationship with the Touchstones. They make the "Where Have We Traveled in Our Books" post "pretty"...for lack of a better word...but they are also a big headache to keep up. Every day...every time I post our books in the states, countries, or strange places, I have to go through and change the Touchstone back to the correct one...this happens daily, almost hourly on ALL 6 GROUP sites! Would anyone miss them if I simply didn't use them?? Please be honest...If you like them or use them to find books that might interest you...I will continue to keep the topic thread looking as it does now. This is what it would look like without the Touchstones.

If you have responded to my question on another group...save yourself some time and go read a book. I already have your answer and thank you.

I do hover over them if the book looks interesting but I only need to see them in one place (like the original post). Some posters don't use them at all and that's ok because I just look up the book on my own. I think they're most helpful if someone just posts a title and nothing else but again, just having them on the original post is enough. Hope that helps save you some time. :)

>5 genesisdiem: Thank you for taking your time to answer. I'm just tired of putting some of them back every time...but they are useful, and they make the post pretty. I'll see how everyone feels before doing anything. I'm still on the fence:)

Oh my Carol. I mean, yes, a touchstone is pretty but go save yourself the time and just post the "Where Have We Been?" without them. You're always good about posting who has read a particular book, and if I want to add a book to my Wishlist, I'll either look up that book on LT or send a message to the friend who read that particular book.

Like >5 genesisdiem: says, having the touchstone on the original post is enough.

>3 Carol420: Yes!!! That is *exactly* how I feel about it.
