Emile Zola wrote a 20 book series Rougon-Macquart. I have just reading book 2 and it is a great series (I'm not easily impressed). I was wondering if there was anyone interested in a group read of this series. I was thinking one book every other month, or 6 per year? Let me know!

I think this group did this a few years back and I missed it. I would definitely join in, and I like your timetable. I have read about 6 of them and love them all, but would like to go back to the beginning and read them in order.
Are you planning to read in publication order or the reading order Zola recommended?

>2 japaul22: If they did, I missed it, also. I think it would be wise to read in the order Zola recommended? However, that is a group decision. I think we need at least 6 to proceed.

I am also slowly reading my way through the series (in the order reptedly recommended by Zola) and would be interested to see others' comments. I won't have time for it in August, though, I'll go on vacation later.

I read a lot of the Rougon-Macquart series many years ago, and doubt that I'll have remembered anything, so have downloaded The Fortunes of the Rougons ready to go. It's free on KoboPlus.

Oh yes! I missed this earlier, so glad you bumped it up the list!
Definitely a series that I have been meaning to get to for a very long time. I would love to join in. Off to check gutenberg.org now for the first book.

I'll pin this thread to the top of the group to make it more visible!
