>8 _kamiix: >7 xjiroux: You might want to check out the Manga & Anime group, https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/7179/Manga-and-Anime-Addicts, especially the “talk about anything” topic, https://www.librarything.com/topic/362637. This group is for talking about books, and folks tend to get testy with teen off-topic chat here.

Did you like it?

>17 lilithcat: Yes it was, although I did get confused after a while. With Jews moving to Portugal from Spain to escape the Spanish Inquisition, then Spain and Portugal being united? So they moved to Holland? Then of course the travels to Jamaica sponsored by Spain and Portugal and finally the British? I lost a lot in the middle. And the big emphasis on the Columbus gold mine that was never found. Anyway it seemed like total chaos but I guess that is what we have now too.

Yes, a lot of Jews went to the low countries, which were by then Protestant. Some went to what is now Italy (particularly Venice and Ferrara, which were not averse to thumbing their civic noses at the Vatican), or to the Ottoman Empire, which was very welcoming.
