I went to download the LibraryThing app on the Google Play Store and it gave me a message at the top: "Looking for LibraryThing? This app isn't available for your device because it was made for an older version of Android."
I know I could do onto the browser version, but then I can't scan the barcodes on the back, and the usability feels different. Any idea if they're getting rid of the app or if there's just some error?

I believe I read, some time ago, that only one LT staffer understands Android coding, and that person has other tasks as well, so the Android app is low priority. It has several bugs and is somewhat out of date. As you have discovered Yes, it has lots of problems -- indeed, I suspect it is the #1 source of bug reports. If you look over the Bug Collectors threads, you'll see quite a few. So I don't think you can anticipate a quick fix.
If you really want to do a lot of bar code scanning, there are a number of inexpensive scanners for that, including LT's own CueCat, which you can find in the LT store. Or you can just type in the ISBN for the book, or use other search methods.
I know that's not a particularly satisfactory answer, but when one uses a free site, one has to accept what one can get for no cost. :-/

Duplicate of https://www.librarything.com/topic/349351, so probably best to follow that thread for updates.
AFAIK, developers announced they are close to finishing major updates on other fronts, so hopefully this will be on their agenda sooner rather than later

Reopening so developers can take a look.
Thanks Sandra and Robin!

Update: Abigail is not seeing the LT app when searching in Google Play Store. Other library apps populate but not ours.

Update: We are working with Google to remedy the issue. It looks like it should be back up in the Google Play Store within 24 hours (though the timeline is now in Google's hands). Thank you all for your patience!

We had an issue with our Google Play Store listing. We are currently in a holding pattern while the google mother ship "verifies" our information. Hopefully it's a less-than-24-hours kind of thing.

>7 conceptDawg: Is there any potential updates for the Android App any time soon? Or is this this a "two weeks" situation?

I think this is a duplicate of this bug:
