Having wrapped up Dreadful, it's now onto Ghosts of War: Nazi Occupation and Its Aftermath in Soviet Belarus, Teach for the Sky, and Control: The Dark History and Troubling Present of Eugenics.

I've just finished reading The Last Policeman by Ben H. Winters. It was very good, and a true genre-bender: it's both crime fiction and science fiction, and quite bleak. It won an Edgar Award, and it was well-deserved.
I think I'm going to start reading An African in Greenland by Tete-Michel Kpomassie. However, it generally takes me about three tries to get into any books these days, so it's not guaranteed that I will read it next. I'm also considering Angela Carter's Nights at the Circus.

I finished Killers of a Certain Age much quicker than I thought I would, and I've started Three Hainish Novels at long last. I'm also going to start Demon in Business Class because, well, October.
On the still reading side, that would be The White Ship and The Book of Merlyn.

I'm about two thirds of the way through Richard Powers' new novel, Playground which I'm loving. But I've loved almost everything that he's published.

I'm reading Proust's The Guermantes Way in 150-page quarters, and I've just finished the second quarter. After a while spent with my "between books," I'll be starting the short World War 2 novel, A Walk in the Sun by Harry Brown. The book, about the Allied invasion of Salerno, was published in 1944 and made into a movie the next year.

I'm still reading my Early Reviewer Broke Heart Blues by Joyce Carol Oates, and rereading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: The Illustrated Edition by J. K. Rowling. Very busy week last week with report cards and parent/teacher conferences, but now I have a week off so hopefully I can finish both.

The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II
Buzz Bissinger
4/5 stars
This is the story of a group of the All American football players who entered WWII and served in the Marine Corp. This is the story of those players and who survived and who died. I enjoyed this book. Non-Fiction

I finished off a couple of my "between books," The World's Greatest Romances edited by Walter J. Black and The Third Ghost Book edited by Lady Cynthia Asquith, and also ripped through the compelling war novel, A Walk in the Sun by Harry Brown. I've got reviews of all three up on my 50-Book Challenge thread.
Now it's back to Proust, and the third of four 150-pages chunks of The Guermantes Way.

The Madwoman and the Roomba: My Year of Domestic Mayhem
Sandra Tsing Loh
4/5 stars
This was a very delightful book about her family experiences and of her domestic mayhems. I have never heard of her before but she has written several books and I am looking forward to reading more of her. Biography
