Lately I've noticed increasingly bad performance from the iOS app -- minutes-long delays on barcode-scan searches from Amazon, books that I add that don't actually get added, missing collections when they do. Any idea what's going on here?

Me too, and today it wouldn't even load. Deleting and reinstalling the app seemed to work.

>2 karenb: I'll try that. I'm honestly surprised there haven't been more updates to the app. But I do hope they fix these new issues that seem to keep appearing!

>4 ukrbooks: I’m running the app on iOS 17.6.1 and noticed yesterday and today that I could not load my catalog or add books. When attempting to search my catalog I get a “You are not connected to a network…” message (I was on a WiFi network).
I tried logging out and back in, plus uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Neither helped.

Same here. App tries to connect to LT for a minute or two then says “You are not connected to a network”. It was working a couple of days ago. iOS 18.0, app version 1.2.4 (build 145).

Same here on IOS 16.7.10 (iPhone 8), app version 1.2.4 (build 145). Was working over the weekend (minus the barcode scanner but this is a known issue on iPhone 8).

Getting same error report all day. App won’t let me search my library or add books. Won’t connect to a network. Running iOS 18.1 on iPhone 16pro

I have not been able to use the app the past few days and am having the same issues as everyone else here. Did anyone get any updates on what might be the issue or when it might be resolved?

So, I understand issues Monday and until 10am Tuesday—we had a server down—but are you still having issues? I don't see anything alarming there.

>11 timspalding: Yep. Just restarted the app just in case and it is still not working - spins for a bit and shows the “no network” message when trying to open a page from the catalog.

I'm investigating. Not seeing anything yet.

>11 timspalding: it is inconsistent. After dinner I updated my iPhone (SE, 2nd gen) to iOS 17.7. The first time I opened LibraryThing it slowly connected to my catalog and slowly revealed the contents of the most recently used catalog. I reattempted the app after seeing your post, and now I get the network status error message again.

I’m still getting long waits ending in the “You are not connected to a network” error more often than not, but the app did manage to load the list of recently added books.
16timspalding
Yeah. I'm seeing it myself, but I can't see it in any of our charts. This probably means it's on the network level—and beyond my capabilities to investigate. I'll get on with CC and Ganawa tomorrow morning.

Members reaching out via email and on social media overnight and this morning, to report similar issues: being told they are not connected to the network, when attempting to access the iOS app.

LT app wouldn't load on my android phone yesterday. Force stopped and tried again as well as restarting phone but still not working. Thought I'd uninstall and reinstall app to fix whatever is going on but now find that the LT app is no longer available on Google Play. What is going on?

3-5 of us worked on this issue all day today, an issue of networking and servers. We are in somewhat better shape. The app should be fast, as should LT--logged in and not. Our special "pics" server, however, is still struggling.

Sorry if this is on the wrong thread, but I didn't find another with a relevant topic.
If someone could point me in the right direction? Only tangentially related to this thread as it is occurring only on the app. (iPhone 13pro, OS 17.6.1) Authors names with diacritical marks in them are showing up incorrectly in the authors list of my library, only on the app. they are fine when I access through various windows computers.
Lucía Ashta appears as Lucía Ashta
J'aimee Brooker appears as J'aimee Brooker
I've tried updating the LT authors page with the letter in question copied in from another source with no luck.

Sorry for the trouble, but I must be missing something. These names look the same to me. Can you clarify how the names are displayed (wrongly) in the App?
