Hello, I am slowly building my library here on LT and would like to try connecting it to TinyCat. I have loaded about 600 books to LT but have about 2000 more to go. As I load more titles onto LT does it automatically populate into TinyCat?
Further question, in my 'physical library' at home I have the books shelved by topic (and then alphabetical by author or editor within that topic). Where is the best place for me to note down where the books should be pulled from and re-shelved when people borrow and return them? Do I make a note in LT or TC? If I note it in LT does it tell me in TC as well?
Please excuse me if this topic should be in another area - do direct me if I have made a mistake!

>1 EAC-ACB_Library: TinyCat is entirely powered by LT, so it will automatically populate from LT whatever you tell it (you can omit some collections, for instance)
Dedicated field for custom shelving data is 'other call number'.

"it will automatically populate from LT" but not necessarily immediately. There is often a delay before LT edits show up in TinyCat.
This group works, but there is also a TinyCat group. https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/18541/TinyCat

>3 MarthaJeanne: Thank-you for both of those repsonses. I will go investigate the TC group since that is where I am staring from zero in terms of knowledge!

>2 SandraArdnas: Thank-you for gelling me about custom shelving. I've selected one book to try it out on. I went to edit and then put in "Colour & Design" in the other call number section and then pressed save. Now when I go to the book's main page I can't see where this information is displayed to tell me where to go shelve it....maybe it is somewhere obvious that I just don't see? I want to quickly look up a book and then have LT tell me where to put it back on the shelf based on the other call number section....

You can add the "other call number" field to your catalogue view.
In the catalogue, press the settings button, then find the "other call number" button under "Classification" in the right-hand menu and drag it to your catalogue view. Don't forget to save.

The Other Call Number will show up in more placesd if you have it set in account settings.
One place to look for it is in Book Details. Whoops, Mo, it's not in Book Details.
