On the centenary of its publication, the resonance today of Franz Kafka’s masterpiece short story is chilling. It explores the life of an artist whose art is starvation, whose performances of prolonged fasting captivate audiences through the existential danger inherent to his craft. Through this enigmatic character, Kafka prods at the conflict between art and society, the pursuit of authenticity, and the loneliness one must feel in the face of shifting public tides.

>1 wcarter: That's stunning. Purchased now. Perhaps due to their size the images here resonated with me more than the ones on the No Reply website. I also just bought The Men Return to complete the Science Fiction trio.

The crisp printing set against the texture of the paper is beautiful. Love it.
