Hi - not a huge bug, but I often re-use the physical barcodes from items I have previously deleted (barcodes are expensive!). Whenever I do, I get the message that "Barcode "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" is already in use by error."
I just choose to save the barcode as a duplicate, hopefully this wont cause problems down the line??

Reverting change as this was defined as not a bug per kristilabrie
"when you delete a record that has a barcode, it's supposed to go into an archive of sorts -- in case you needed to replace a damaged item, for example, we keep that in the records for you. you must go to your barcode settings and "free up" that barcode number in order to use it again in your catalog on a new record"
see "Inactive barcodes" section on /settings/barcodes page

Ahh Thank you! I had no idea this setting even existed.

>5 SHC_Library: Yes! We will (per your message at >1 SHC_Library:), I believe, still let you force-save a duplicate barcode (a newer change), but for a cleaner catalog you'll probably want to "free up" any inactive barcodes you no longer need. (Here: https://www.librarything.com/settings/barcodes, under "Show Barcode Actions" you'll see an "Inactive barcodes" section if you have any.)
I hope this helps!
