2025 MysteryKIT Planning

Edited: Nov 6, 7:11 pm

Welcome to MysteryKIT planning thread. We read mysteries of all kinds. If you are interested in hosting MysteryKIT in 2025, please post in this planning thread. Months and topics are up for grabs now, I will update below. The host generally posts the new topic around the 15th of the previous month.

For those new to the idea, the host selects the mystery topic or genre for their month, such as noir/hardboiled, cozy, historical, golden age, locked room, amateur sleuths, classic mysteries, and so on. Then the host creates the thread of the month where participants can comment or post their own reading selections, questions, or ideas. The host also posts suggestions or titles to help participants choose their reading selections.

January—LadyoftheLodge—winter mysteries
February—DeltaQueen50–vintage mysteries
March—majkia—espionage
April--mstrust—paranormal
May—Robertgreaves—mysteries not set in my country
June—KeithChaffee—LGBTQ+ detectives
July—christina_reads—series sleuths
August—LibraryCin—legal thrillers
September—Miss Brangwen—silver age mysteries
October--DeltaQueen50–police procedurals
November--Tess_W--psychological mysteries and thrillers
December--lowelibrary—cozies

I am a huge fan of vintage mysteries so I would love to host in February a month of vintage mysteries.

I would like to do "Silver Age Mysteries" in September (mysteries from the 1960s and 70s).

Could I have May for Mysteries Not Set In My Country, please?

Can I do paranormal mysteries? Either January or April would do.

>12 mstrust: I will put you down for April. Thank you.

We just have two months left to be filled before we are complete--July and October.

If you need someone to do a second month I would like to do "police procedurals" in either available month.

I'd be happy to host the remaining month...perhaps "series sleuths" in July?

Is July "senior" or "series" sleuths?

24Robertgreaves
Nov 5, 9:10 pm

>23 KeithChaffee: Well spotted. I must admit I like the idea of "senior sleuths" as a category. They do seem to be having a "moment" in the wake of The Thursday Murder Club

>23 KeithChaffee: Thanks for catching -- I definitely meant series, as in reading the next installment of a mystery series you have on the go (or starting a new one). Cheryl, could you please change it at >1 LadyoftheLodge:?

>25 christina_reads: I'm so glad of that! The next instalment of a mystery series I can easily handle, but I've little in the seniors category.

>28 LibraryCin: There’s always Miss Marple as one of the best senior sleuths.

>29 LadyoftheLodge: But thankfully, she is also a series sleuth! So either way, she counts. :)

>30 christina_reads: She has always been a good choice for me either way! Thanks again.
