Public Catalog Seems not Working as Expected

I am trying to share my catalog with family members. I use the link as recommended here on the web site as

https://www.librarything.com/catalog/NikolayGekht

If I use this link - no books are shown at all.

If I add allcollections, e.g.
https://www.librarything.com/catalog/NikolayGekht/allcollections

* it shows books initially
* it allows to select a category once
* however no switch between view modes, search, or sort works

If I am logged in - it works perfectly. If I try to use it being logged out, it fails.

I tried: Safary & Chrome at iPAD, Chrome, Mozilla & Edge at Windows 11. None works.

I am under impression that I tried it a few week ago when I just started to use the site, and it worked.

When did you add the books? There is a delay in when non-members can see books in new libraries and newly added books.

If this is the case here, it will solve itself in a few days.

For the record - I can see your library just fine when I am logged in. What the default link shows is the collection that they looked at last - which for non users tend to be Your Library which you don’t use much. So you may want to either point people to All collections or to your profile.

>1 NikolayGekht:

I confirm that no books are shown when I go to your first link. However, all I had to do was choose "All Collections" at the upper left and everything seemed to work. So I think it's just that it's remembering a selection you made. Just turn on All Collections at your end and you'll be fine.

(Others may know more about this than I do, but I don't think there is a problem.)

>3 waltzmn: In my case it doesn’t help.
First time it let’s to choose. The same if you open /allcollections.

However after than you cannot change collection or view mode.

And maybe answer >2 AnnieMod: -- how long did you wait between adding books and trying to share.

Could you outline exactly what steps you're taking and at what point they fail? And this is only when logged out?

I do see that sorting by column does not seem to work. It appears that sorting by column does not work on mine logged out either, so that must be a bug.

Also when you do a search it's going to Your Library which has no books, but when it does that there is a link right below the search box that says the "All Collections" has x results that you can click to see. If you click on the arrow next to the search button you can choose advanced, which allows you to search in any collection, and not just the last one that was selected.

iPAD, latest iOS, Safari

Open link https://www.librarything.com/catalog/NikolayGekht

It shows book in collection Household
Try to change collection: nothing happens
Try to sort: nothing happens

Try to change view modes (A, B, C, D, E) - sometimes works, sometimes not, sometimes changes collection.

https://www.librarything.com/catalog/NikolayGekht/allcollections

Shows all books. Click on sort by entry date: Collection changes to Household, view mode all unselected now (neither of A, B, C, D, E selected).

Windows 11, Chrome. On this PC librarything has never been logged in. Exactly the same behavior. If you like I can record screencast tomorrow to show what is happening.

I can also capture exchanges with library thing API in Chrome dev. mode, if you like.

>8 NikolayGekht: I think this has been fixed now. I just tried your steps on an incognito window, and sorting, changing collections, and changing view modes all worked. Can you verify?

>9 knerd.knitter: Any chance that the fix broke something else? See https://www.librarything.com/topic/365538 -- the timing is suspicious :)

Now I'm not sure if it was fixed previously. Working on it.

I think this is fixed again/now.
