Hyperion is one of my favorite science fiction novels of all time. It won a well-deserved Hugo in 1989, and the story is structured similar to the Canterbury Tales. The writing is phenomenal -- there's references to classic literature (Keats especially), but there's also references to physics, politics, religion, and more. It really speaks to you. I consider it a masterpiece, and I was so bummed when I missed the pre-order from Curious King. However, a few days later, I went to the site and almost as by miracle, there were some copies available. I quickly snagged one before it was sold out - and sold out it is. Here are my thoughts --
->One of the best science fiction works of all time in one of the most beautiful productions I have seen.
->Letterpress is beautiful.
->Clamshell is sturdy and well designed.
->Illustrations are gorgeous, and there are B&W as well as full-color illustrations throughout the work.
->This edition did not have any "standard" copies for sale. Instead the options were "Deluxe" (300 copies), Lettered (26 copies), and Roman Numeral (8 copies).
->This is the Deluxe Edition -- Original Cost: £650 -- about $845 USD as of Nov. 2024.
And now, the pictures -- and to be clear, pictures do not do justice:

>1 astropi: I only got a brief chance to view it in person, but the binding is much nicer than conveyed in photos.
I disliked the mock-up quite a bit and thought it was over designed, but Rich / the Ludlow team managed to deliver something very elegant and subtly tactile regardless.

Thanks for the pics. Happy with my copy. I agree with it being subtle. The box it was sent in was super sturdy too.

>1 astropi: Looks fantastic. Very disappointed there was no standard edition for this for the poorer among us. The artwork is excellent.
