Shelf Audit

Please forgive me if this has already been covered. We have around 400 items in our collection. We need to run a shelf/system audit as there are some discrepancies in our records.

Could anybody give me some advice on the best way to do this?

All comments most appreciated.

Would the "Take Inventory" feature do what you want?

I added a "Stocktake_2021" tag last time I did something like this and had satisfied myself the record was accurate.
My books are also tagged by location so I was able to check tags for individual shelves and use poweredit to add the new tag to all at once if things were good. If a book wasn't on the expected shelf I tagged it temporarily so I knew there was an issue. Any book on the shelf, but untagged as such, just got that tag added as well when checked.
Using poweredit to tag everything first, "needs_checked" or similar, will allow knowing what has not yet been checked. Especially useful if you can't get to everything in one session.

Thank you for your reply. I seem to be lacking useful knowledge. How do I access the "poweredit" feature
What do you do about items on loan during the process?
Many thanks, barbara

"Your books" at the top of page
Near the middle of the top row of links/buttons, there is a yellow lightning bolt symbol. It's just under the "Talk" link for me.

Loan isn't relevant to my experience, but I'd simply deal with returns as they came in. Before putting anything back on the shelf check the record, and update if needed.
