What data source were you using to add? Did you try any other sources? Problems like this are almost always with the sources, not LT.

Testing, I find that there are no other copies on LibraryThing. So if you tried to add it from Overcat, there is nothing to add. Amazon has it, and you could add it from there.

Since I don't know which source you used, I won't quite go so far as to close this as not a bug... but I'm completely convinced that this is not a bug.

Sources change their search details. It is important that these problems be reported so that LT can check what is going on. Sometimes a source is down or no longer allows LT to se arch, but often it is just necessary to change certain details. With so many sources, keeping them working is a constant task.

Sources also have intermittent problems, presumably due to too much traffic at times, which resolve themselves soon enough when their servers are no longer overloaded with requests. Occasional success as reported points to just that, in which case there's nothing on LT side to do about it.

>2 waltzmn: I just use academic / official national Library sources : BNF or Sudc, DNB, Loc.. Idem Sapin, Canada and others
Never (exceptionally) merchant/commercial sources as Amazon (cause of metadata fiability)

Why do I sometimes have to insist on clicking on "search" 5/10/15 times... before having a proposition that exists in the source ?
Is this normal ?

>6 JMK2020: Short answer: No. But the source might be having problems, so you get a timeout error that is turning into: not found.
So a good error report would be to state the source, you are adding from, and the exact string you search for, and the result you get. Some of us have been granted special powers to fiddle a bit with the settings, so we might be able to find out a bit more and maybe even once in a while fix a broken source.

>1 JMK2020: I'm now finding ISBN 2723426971 and "Animaux, Iwago" from SUDOC, although I had to search twice before it was brought up. I'm assuming some intermittent failing on this source.

I was able to bring up "Les fonctions de nutrition chez les animaux" on BnF once but am otherwise getting Timeout errors for all other searches for this record. Seems to be in worse condition than SUDOC, but I'm not sure it's on our end.
