Cover images blank or broken jpeg icon

I've scanned covers in my app today and they show briefly in the little popup window, but then saved look like brown fuzzy covers. Images I uploaded from my PC as jpegs yesterday are showing up as broken jpeg icons.

Can anyone help me with why it might be happening?

I think the same thing is happening with me. None of the book covers I upload are displaying
