No correction possible (French version**)
From https://www.librarything.com/work/27342609/summary/272654465 (After choosen french)
Date de première publication
2019-04-20 (1e é | dtion originale franç | aise, Visimuz, Pré | vessin-Moë | ns)
Personnes ou personnages
Voltaire (Franç | ois-Marie Arouet, 1694-1778)
maybe there is also a problem with not being able to change the date of the 1st publication when it is already present... (or date of birth)
** it's possible to change date of birth in .com but no effect in .fr if fr was originally completed

Thanks for the report! Okay, I'm not seeing your bug's title description: "accent "é" became 'è'" with the example/s you're posting. Can you give me a specific example that shows an accent é becoming 'è'?
I am seeing a bug looking at the CK data you've posted, where I am unable to edit the French CK data for Original publication date, and People/Characters**.
To reproduce:
1. Go to https://www.librarything.com/work/27342609 and scroll down to the Common Knowledge section. Select "French (6)" to view the French CK Data.
2. Click the pencil buttons next to the Original publication date and People/Characters, and attempt to remove the | characters to cleanup the text: "2019-04-20 (1e é | dtion originale franç | aise, Visimuz, Pré | vessin-Moë | ns)" (OPD) and "Voltaire (Franç | ois-Marie Arouet, 1694-1778)" (People/Characters)
3. Click to "Save" on both fields. The text appears to save in correct/cleaned up format. (See screenshot below, showing French CK and cleaned up text on OPD and People/Characters.)
4. View all CK edit history for the work: https://www.librarything.com/commonknowledge/changelog.php?item=27342609&typ...
5. Go back to the work page and view the CK section under French.
Bug: The edited text didn't save properly, and the CK History page shows I'm only editing the OPD field in English, not French.
**NB: This seems to be another instance of the bug report at https://www.librarything.com/topic/338817#7738618
Forgot to upload my screenshot (#3 above):
