Ok, apologies, this is going to be vague. First of all, I probably read this in the mid or late 90s, and I lived in Alberta, Canada. Not sure if it was a Canadian or local book, but it could've been.
This book was about a boy who...comes of age? The only explicit plot detail I remember is that he has a girlfriend, and when they have sex for the first time, and they get fully naked, and they feel embarrassed and it's kind of an awkward experience. However, they keep having sex, and learn only to takeoff the clothes they need to, and it becomes more comfortable and feels better.
I think in general the book was probably about this boy making new friends who expose him to new and different things. Maybe he leaves home at some point? Has issues with his parents? I
For some reason I think the author's name had initials, like "a.b. something."
I mostly remember it was one of those books that I read as a teen that made me feel like an adult, similar to reading the Perks of Being a Wallflower. I recently recalled that I used to read books by Chris Crutcher as a kid and thought it might be one of his, but reading plot synopses, none of them rang a bell.
Can anyone give me an idea where I could even look to find the writers of "edgy" teen novels in the 90s?

>2 keachachu: oh my god, you might be right! The dadaist society storyline rings a bell. I'm going to look for a copy and read it to see! Thank you!

>2 keachachu: Returning to this thread. I ordered the book and read it, and yes, this is the book I was thinking of! I'm shocked you got it, especially from my terrible description. Anyway, it was nice to return to this angsty 90s teenagehood and remember what was blowing my mind when I was like 14. Thank you.
