Hello Everyone,
My name is Cécile and live in Canada's National Capital, Ottawa. I am hardly new to LT: I've been a member since 2006 but this will be my first CATchallenge. I've always shied away from it because it seemed so complicated, but after doing a few TIOLI challenges with the 75 Book Challenge folks, I feel I can get my bearings.
A little about me: I was a professional translator for many years and am now a governance professional (I call myself a Scribe, rewriting other people's words). I'm less than 4 years away from retirement!
I have a daughter who is a professional harpist in Montréal - I am so proud of her accomplishments; she has already worked with some of Canada's top musicians!
I love nature walks (less hard core than hikes), photography and birding (both recent interests), travel (most of my family lives in France so it's an excuse to board planes) and of course books.
I have an eclectic taste in books but mostly I try to stay on top of the 300+ books I've managed to accumulate while not getting too distracted by the bookshop 200m from my house and the library a mere 1.5km away.
Happy for tips on how to navigate the CATs and KITs. I'll definitely go for the Bingo - that I understand!

I was new to the CATChallenge last year, and I was a little daunted by all the KITs and CATs at first. But the SFFKit coincided with a bunch of stuff I was going to read anyway, and then it became easier to see how various things already in my TBR would match a given prompt, and I was off! I didn’t do all the KITs and CATs, and I fully expected to skip some months if they got overwhelming or too much like “work.” But that never happened—the prompts just gave me some inspiration to select my next book and a little nudge to actually read it.
