Its a fantasy book for teens or young adults. A long book, Novel. Ik there's a 2nd book. I read it in like 7th grade. Its about a girl who goes to this school place (I think it was a school) and she finds this animal that's able to fly. I also remember the place is very big. Theres is a big building in the front and then in the back there's like a barn-like building where the animal is held but there's a lot of grass around it. At first though when she meets it it doesn't trust anyone and no one has been able to get it to fly or eat. But she really cares for this animal and it starts to trust her. But at first no one wants her to be the one to take care of it. But she ends up becoming the caretaker for it.

Scenes I remember:
at one point in the book there's a lot of guards around the building because someone important (I think royalty but idk) comes for a big meal I believe and someone trys to harm someone during this (might have been one of the animals or the person idk tbh) that visits but another one of the characters in the book protects them. These animals are around during this I think

When did you read this book? (A specific time, like 10 years ago, or 2007). It could help with the search a lot because some potential suggestions might have been published after you read the book. If we know when you read the book, we know the book couldn't have been published after that point.

Either way, maybe from the Castle Glower series? It's a castle, not a school, but the other points match the main character's relationship with a griffin she finds (at least as far as I can remember).

The last time I read this book was about 2 years ago.

I checked out that series and I don't believe that's it. I truly wish I could remember more about this book to make it easier lol.

This may be a book I also read and can't remember the name of! I remember the cover showing something like a wolf with wings, in maybe a white-black-red color scheme? Not a griffin or dragon, but some newly invented creature. She flies in between two armies to stop a war at the end?

I went back and looked at my Goodreads account for familiar covers. Is it possibly The Beast Player?

I remembered stuff about water animals but just assumed it was from a different book. Literally thank you so much. It has been bothering me for WEEKS that I couldn't figure out what this book was
