children's series with see-through pages

Large picture books with see-though pages, social studies topics such as Ancient Rome.

The books like that I had in my childhood were from the Scholastic First Discovery series. I don't think there was a Rome one but there was Atlas of People, Castles, Pyramids, etc. They were smallish books though.
