YA book about hunting a memory eating monster with a twist ending
Hi all! I listened to this audio book in elementary school (early 2000s) during “quiet time.” We would all put our heads down in the dark and listen to a chapter at a time. I loved this.
We listened to this book which has always lingered in my mind because the plot is so wild.
The book follows a girl and a small group of side characters as they try to hunt down a specific monster that ate the girl’s father’s memories. The monster looked like Randal from Monsters Inc. Almost a big worm I think?
The climax of the book is when the girl has to swing on a rope to kill the memory stealer. She does this, sending its head into a dark pit, but everyone gets upset because they actually needed the monster head to give her father back his memories.
