The book was for younger readers, I read it in middle school. Fiction about a middle eastern girl (about 12 years old), her dad marries her off once she gets her first menstruation, to a middle aged man who has a harem. The book cover was a young girl wearing a pink head covering, the background was blue, she had hazel colored eyes (this cover may be from between 2004-2007). The book is about her being in the harem and dealing with the other women. It won a prize (maybe Pulitzer or Booker?) The book has a sequel where she has a daughter of her own.
