The Folio Book of Christmas Crime Stories - 2004
This is a very readable collection of short stories that have a very significant connection to crime, but sometimes only a tenuous connection to Christmas. It is ideal for bedside reading as the stories vary from 47 to a mere ten pages.
There is one colour plate by Michael Foreman for each of the fifteen stories, but the colours in some are quite muted and often in bluish icy tones as befits the season.
Many famous authors have contributed stories. The authors are Margery Allingham, Agatha Christie, Liza Cody, Arthur Conan Doyle, Colin Dexter, Stanley Ellin, Tim Heald, Edward D. Hoch, E.W. Hornung, P.D. James, Peter Lovesey, Ngaio Marsh, Sara Paretsky, Ellis Peters and Margaret Yorke.
The 282 page book is three-quarter bound in blue cloth with a colour printed paper cover. The endpapers are light blue and the mid-blue slipcase measures 24x16cm. There is no introduction.

Thank you for the review. This looks right up my alley. I read the "Folio Christmas Ghost Stories" not too long ago and loved it. I'll have to track down a copy of this one soon.

I have that one but never read it.

I see that I bought this years ago , but have not read it yet. Took it down from the shelf today and will begin tonight.

>1 wcarter: It must take you an incredible amount of time to put these reviews and photo galleries together — and I just wanted to say Thank You!! They are appreciated.

I received this gift from the munificent >1 wcarter: just a few weeks ago at the Annual Antipodean Faddict Entmoot in Brisbane.
It's out on the coffee table besides A Traveller's Christmas, and A Christmas Carol, for seasonal cheer.

Thanks. Each review takes between 1.5 and 3 hours to complete, depending on the number of photos and amount of research. I enjoy doing them.

>8 wcarter: What >6 jhicks62: and >9 coynedj: said. I always make it a point to look at these particular threads. You do a lovely job with each one. (I almost always go looking to see what the availability of physical copies might be in the rare books marketplace.)

>11 LesMiserables: I believe this to be the case as I know there were at least two specific relapses in my own life that may be attributed to threads like this one. (And I'm enjoying the Christmas Crime Stories collection immensely...)
