Gianni really delivered here. Makes me excited for the two editions with his work I've got coming.
And so, as Tiny Tim said, 'A Merry Christmas to us all; God bless us, every one!'

>4 A.Godhelm: Which two editions are those?

>1 wcarter: I just realized that this is the second time Hand & Eye have printed A Christmas Carol -- they did it in 2015 under their own sign, with Angela Barrett's illustrations.

I love working with Gary, Christmas Carol was a book he'd wanted to do for a long time. >5 ultrarightist: The Alchemist and HitchHikers? Both are using a way of integrating colour with text in a pretty challenging way, I really wanted to use colour printing and letterpress printing and Gary is always up for the challenge m

>6 kermaier: Yes, and I have both, and while the H&E edition is charming, the Lyra's edition with Gianni's illustrations is definitely my favorite. I love the design, the binding, and above all the classic illustrations, like windows looking back into the Victorian era.
>7 marceloanciano: Probably. Those were difficult passes for me because I was sorely tempted by Gary's illustrations. He is my favorite current illustrator. I think it would be interesting to see him take a stab at illustrating weird fiction. He's taking a step in that direction by providing one illustration for Pegana's upcoming edition of The King in Yellow. I hope to see more.

Beautiful edition of a classic work, thank you for sharing! This is one that I unfortunately missed out on when it was available. Hoping you rectify that at some point in the future! It's nice to see it vicariously through this post, though!

The more I see of this illustrator the more I like. I ordered the recent Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy based on the illustrations. I like the swirling crowds that seems to be a signature of his.

This is one gorgeous book. Probably my all round favourite from Lyra's so far. And there's some stuff competition, not least from the recently published Oz. And I agree about Gary Gianni being a master illustrator: not only is his work in both colour and b&w stunning, but he also illustrates each book very generously. I wonder what he's working on after The Alchemist and Hitchhikers?
