Found: "Space Odyssey"

I know the name of the book I read when I was in Highschool. That is part of the problem. Google doesn't help. The name is or is similar to Space Odyssey, but it is not 2001: Space Odyssey. I don't know the author. But I can pretty much recite what happened in the story. A man is abducted, his body is modified to be a slave for these alien big game hunters, they have a female with them. The hunters get killed, he has to protect the girl, he falls in love with her. He finds a ship wreck covered in giant vines, with giant cats hunting some kind of giant bug for food. He tames one of the cats. And a lot more happens but those are the broad strokes of the story line. It is one of the few science fiction stories about love I've read, I'm sure there are more out there, and I don't usually reread a book but I would like to this one, if someone could help me. Thank you.
