I believe the best friend's name was Betsy
Best friend passed away leaving behind husband and daughter
Widowed husband is a police officer
Main character's family targeted by someone
Main character's family is extremely wealthy
Main character joins forces with best friend's widower to solve mystery
All of the children go to private school
Daughter of dead best friend is extremely talented (plays an instrument, perhaps?)
The family ends up with bodyguards
Main character finds out her husband participated in an assault while in college
At one point the team travel to get information on another family who is experiencing kidnapping--it is there that the main character sees a photo and realizes the husband of this family was in school with her husband
Family of sexual assault victim is exacting revenge on the men who ruined the young woman's life
The victim was on scholarship but lost it when she could not handle life after assault
The SA victim eventually dies by suicide
The main character sees a "witch in the window" when the youngest child is kidnapped
The main character is watching a rehearsal in the theater at her child's school when she is lured away.
The main character goes to a defunct amusement park to retrieve son
There are areas rigged with bombs (which do not end up going off)
Vengeful parent dies after the main character sits and talks with her on merry go round
Main character meets someone (husband?) at a restaurant towards the end of the novel, and a woman comes in and shoots
The body guards were at the restaurant and they kill the assailant after she shoots
The assailant is wearing a white dress (I believe)
Time period is sometime in the last 20-30 years (though I believe it is more recent)
I believe it's set in a Southern city--perhaps Atlanta
I believe the main character's husband is a lawyer
