This audio book kept my attention to the end. I don't usually read suspense novels, and this was my first M.H. Clark book. Will try to avoid spoilers.

Cons: The setting, for me, was dull -- upper middle-class families with pools, ivy league schools, and trips to Barbados in order to, presumably, do nothing on the beach but sip drinks, while the natives bring more alcohol and smirk at the boring rich people. That's a world I cannot relate to and don't really want to.

Some of the dating was really irritating because it was so darn inappropriate and unprofessional. I can see now how it was needed for the plot, but at the time it seemed like a potential romance forced into the plot because, hey, doesn't every novel need a 'love interest'? The answer is no! But, okay, it sorta made sense in the end.

Pros: Usually audio books make me space out, but this one did a good job of keeping my attention. It began with drama that hooked me right away. The writing was clear.

The only interesting character was Jamie who was mentally disabled by a lack of oxygen at birth -- which usually causes cerebral palsy with spasticity, but Jamie seemed normal physically, just with a child-like mind. I did enjoy Jamie, and the narrator's voice for him sounded believable.

The plot kept me curious to the end. I did guess the ending, but not till just before the end was revealed. Good suspense!

Had to think of this a few times as witsec popped up in some tv series. It's nicely written. The break in protection is very obvious but oh well...

This was a quick Christmas read. Mary Higgins Clark and her daughter, Carol, have given us a crossover with their signature characters.

Set in the cozy Vermont area of Stowe, the story revolves around the choosing of the Christmas tree for Rockefeller Center. There's definitely no guesswork when it comes to the "mystery". It's all laid out. But it's fun to watch it come together. A perfect way to get a quick Christmas read in for the holidays.
