- About Me
Truscott Jones practiced trial law for 25 years, the last ten as founder and senior partner of his own firm. He sold his practice, leaving to teach government and world affairs to students at a public high school. Amidst both careers, always the political nerd, Jones worked at two national conventions, crunching delegate rules for presidential candidates on a pair of campaigns, and as surrogate speaker and debate-prep partner for a sitting U.S. senator.
A lifetime in courtrooms navigating colorful judges, diverse juries and expectant clients enables Jones to vividly paint the twists, turns, strategies and frustrations suffusing the reality of American justice. Participating in our political system as a teen canvassing voters’ front porches, to frenzied convention halls and tactical backroom conclaves, he also appreciates the grimy but passionate gears of what we call democracy, and the costs if we squander it.
Before penning novels, Jones’ writing focused on political speeches and legal briefs designed to persuade, or lesson plans calculated to grab the attention of teens. Now he simply wants to become a storyteller, like the ones who have so enriched his own life.
