About My Library

My debut novel Secrets of Castle Rowley, just published October 2023, is the beginning of a three-part series. They are all set in late 17th-century England and focus more on the peasants of the time than the aristocrats. The sequels, Treasures of Castle Rowley and Baroness of Castle Rowley, await readers in 2024.

About Me

I’m a voracious reader, historical romance author, and colored pencil illustrator. Books are my favorite, and I especially love historical fiction, historical romance, dystopian fiction, travel fiction, and books about life in the 17th century.

My family of three (plus chickens and a dog) are lucky enough to live in a small rural Pacific Northwest town by a rocky beach, which gives me a lot of time to read when I’m not working from home, and LibraryThing is my new go-to for finding book recommendations.

Just for fun, here’s my author bio:

Born amidst southern warmth and nurtured by northern rain, Matilda Lockwood has always been captivated by the pages of yesteryears. From her tranquil cabin by the sea, accompanied by the soft clucks of her chickens and the comforting warmth of a wood-burning stove, she journeys back to 17th-century England with her stories, breathing life into tales of love and mystery.

When she isn’t immersed in the past, you can often find her sketching moments of playful beauty, lost in a captivating book, or taking reflective walks amidst the whispering trees.

Join Matilda Lockwood as she intertwines the threads of history and romance, inviting you into a world where love defies time.
