Jodi Picoult

About the Author

Jodi Picoult was born in Nesconset, New York on May 19, 1966. She received a degree in creative writing from Princeton University in 1987 and a master's degree in education from Harvard University. She published two short stories in Seventeen magazine while still in college. Immediately after show more graduation, she landed a variety of jobs, ranging from editing textbooks to teaching eighth-grade English. Her first book, Songs of the Humpback Whale, was published in 1992. Her other works include Picture Perfect, Mercy, The Pact, Salem Falls, The Tenth Circle, Nineteen Minutes, Change of Heart, Handle with Care, House Rules, Sing You Home, Lone Wolf, Leaving Time, and Small Great Things. My Sister's Keeper was made into a movie starring Cameron Diaz. She received the New England Bookseller Award for fiction in 2003. She also wrote five issues of the Wonder Woman comic book series for DC Comics. She writes young adult novels with her daughter Samantha van Leer including Between the Lines and Off the Page. A good story but each section (timeline) could be shorter? There are times that I don't want to pick up the book and continue.

A Spark of Light: A Novel by Jodi Picoult

My biggest issue was the reverse order in which the story was told. It was jarring because i was deeply in the story the first time we started back and I wanted the ending - and I kept having that experience every time it happened again….then when I went back to reread the first chapter after I was done I was reminded how upset I was that we don’t know whether Wren lived and I just got mad again….

Wish You Were Here: A Novel by Jodi Picoult

This was my first Jodi Picoult book (believe it or not...) and now I have to go back and read all the ones I missed.

All the details that bothered me in the first half - the stiff I didn't quite "buy" - turned out to be brilliant. And so many small details from it, which I loved because they were so telling, came back around. The language was crisp, clear, compelling. Truly beautifully done.

The Book of Two Ways: A Novel by Jodi Picoult

On the one hand, it was dense with facts and the ending was supremely frustrating. On the other hand, they were all facts that fascinated me (Egyptology, philosophy), and the author was careful to set us up for that ending from the very beginning. I am a huge fan of Picoult's books - her pacing (which was admittedly a bit slow in places) and language (always perfect). So five stars.
