Drawing from an archive of nearly five thousand letters and advertisements, the riveting, dramatic story of formerly enslaved people who spent years searching for family members stolen away during slavery.
Of all the many horrors of slavery, the cruelest was the separation of families in slave auctions. Spouses and siblings were sold away from one other. Young children were separated from their mothers. Fathers were sent down river and never saw their families again.
As soon as slavery ended in 1865, family members began to search for one another, in some cases persisting until as late as the 1920s. They took out "information wanted" advertisements in newspapers and sent letters to the editor. Pastors in churches across the country read these advertisements from the pulpit, expanding the search to those who had never learned to read or who did not have access to newspapers. These documents demonstrate that even as most white Americans—and even some younger Black Americans, too—wanted to put slavery in the past, many former slaves, members of the "Freedom Generation," continued for years, and even decades, to search for one another. These letters and advertisements are testaments to formerly enslaved people's enduring love for the families they lost in slavery, yet they spent many years buried in the storage of local historical societies or on microfilm reels that time forgot.
Judith Giesberg draws on the archive that she founded—containing almost five thousand letters and advertisements placed by members of the Freedom Generation—to compile these stories in a narrative form for the first time. Her in-depth research turned up additional information about the writers, their families, and their enslavers. With this critical context, she recounts the moving stories of the people who placed the advertisements, the loved ones they tried to find, and the outcome of their quests to reunite.
This story underscores the cruelest horror of slavery—the forced breakup of families—and the resilience and determination of the formerly enslaved. Thoughtful, heart-wrenching, and illuminating, Last Seen finally gives this lesser-known aspect of slavery the attention it deserves.

Defuse any heated conflict by learning which of the five conflict styles you are and how to resolve even the most sensitive dispute with this must-read guide.
The average American worker spends 156 hours a year engaged in the kind of moderate to intense workplace conflict that adversely impacts both performance and health. Managers spend twenty-six percent of their time addressing and resolving conflicts on their team—the equivalent of chewing up one full workday each week.
But what if it didn't need to be like this? What if there was a way to spend less time in stressfully interpersonal interactions and more time on the things that really matter? Through three decades of building and facilitating team chemistry for Fortune 500 companies, professional sports franchises, schools, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and families—Drs. Jim Guinn and John Eliot have reduced the time and cost of conflict resolution. With this on-the-ground experience combined with industry-leading science and research, Guinn and Eliot discovered people respond to conflict in one of five ways: avoid, compete, analyze, collaborate, or accommodate. Because our responses are ingrained byproducts of the subcortex in action, they are predictable. If you can predict how someone will behave in a given circumstance, you can formulate a game plan. The secret is knowing which of the five patterns someone is wired to use when smacked by a stressor.
How to Get Along with Anyone is a pragmatic hands-on book to help you determine conflict types so you can navigate the arguments that emerge in day-to-day life. You'll learn the formula for identifying your coworkers' and loved ones' conflict styles and how to use this information to foster better communication and more effective, collaboration. Filled with fun, engaging examples and actionable techniques, How to Get Along with Anyone teaches you how to predict and prevent escalated conflict, arming you with practical tools for flipping the script on sticking points to nurture stronger and more meaningful relationships.

Silence is a gripping tale of ambition, deceit, and the corrosive effects of unchecked power, set against the backdrop of a seemingly idyllic Southern island.
The story follows Cordelia, a behavioral scientist who returns to her childhood home of Marsh Island to manage the production as CEO of "La Pequeña Tierra," a renowned historical play.
Initially enticed by the opportunity to revitalize the production, Cordelia soon finds herself ensnared in a web of long-held secrets and manipulation that extend far beyond the theater's walls. Her cousin, Elliot Mayer, emerges as a pivotal figure, wielding his influence to control the island's inhabitants and, most notably, to shield the renowned designer Waden de Watter.
Silence masterfully depicts the seductive nature of power, highlighting how individuals can be swayed, manipulated, and ultimately silenced by those who hold it. Elliot, with his carefully crafted persona of Southern charm and generosity, embodies this dynamic. He expertly leverages his position to silence dissent, protect his interests, and maintain the island's facade of respectability.
Silence effectively illustrates this theme through a series of incidents where Elliot manipulates situations to his advantage. For instance, he undermines Cordelia's authority by questioning her decisions, spreading rumors about her, and publicly criticizing her leadership. Furthermore, Elliot orchestrates a campaign to discredit BH, the production's artistic director, when BH challenges Waden’s inappropriate behavior.
The story vividly portrays the destructive impact of Elliot and Waden’s actions on individuals and the production itself. Cordelia, once optimistic and eager to contribute, finds herself increasingly isolated, undermined, and disillusioned as she witnesses the insidious nature of Elliot’s control. It reveals a pattern of questionable behavior from Waden, ranging from financial mismanagement and explosive outbursts to allegations of sexual misconduct.
Warning: This book contains mature themes, including frank depictions of homosexual relationships and sexual encounters between men. If you are sensitive to this type of material, please do not request a copy.
Target Audience: Readers who enjoy Southern fiction with elements of mystery, suspense, and family secrets. Readers drawn to complex female characters navigating challenging situations and exploring themes of power, silence, and truth.

A Brit&Co Most Anticipated Books of 2025
Amy Wilson, co-host of the award-winning podcast What Fresh Hell, takes a funny and insightful look at how women are conditioned to be "happy to help"—and what happens when things don't go that way.
Amy Wilson has always been an ultimate helper. As a big sister, Girl Scout, faithful reader of teen magazines, personal assistant, sitcom sidekick, and, finally, mother of three, Amy believed it was her destiny to be a people pleaser. She learned to put others first, to do what she was told, to finish what she started, and to look like she had everything under control, even when she very much did not.
Along the way, Amy started to wonder why doing it all had been her job. Still, when she tried to hand over some of her to-dos, no one was particularly interested in taking them. And when she asked for help, in return, she got advice: have a sense of humor, quit nagging, and stop trying to be perfect.
Amy dutifully took on these goals—with varying degrees of failure—until the day she started to question if something else needed to be fixed besides herself.
Hilariously relatable, Happy to Help is a collection of essays about how you can be the one everyone else depends on and still be struggling—how you can be "happy to help," even when, for your own sake, you shouldn't.

The long-awaited return of a quintessentially American storyteller
“You’re as likely to be hit twice by lightning on a Monday as see a wood chipper pull a man into its maw.”
So begins North of Ordinary, John Rolfe Gardner’s virtuosic story collection of survivors getting by despite the odds in a shifting world. In these pages, we meet a nervous young apprentice to a weathered tree climber; a dangerously obsessed student at a Southern Bible college; an attractive schemer trying to build an audience for her tiny radio station; an undercover, cross-dressing lawman whose friendship changes the life of a deaf child in a suburban cul-de-sac; and an elderly Black mason whose knowledge of the town’s history harbors truths that shake his visitor’s foundation. Surprising, touching, and deeply humane, the ten stories of North of Ordinary offer an intimate, revelatory look at our fractured society and pull us together through the power of art.
“A lovely, meditative collection, steeped in old ways and days and with a true sense of place.” —Andrea Barrett, author of Ship Fever and Natural History
“What dazzling stories John Rolfe Gardiner writes. His characters, in the best way, are earthbound, caught in the web of work and school and family, past and present. Each story is a world, perfect and complete, and when I read the last one I marveled that so much wisdom and beauty could be contained in a single volume: North of Ordinary.” —Margot Livesey, author of The Flight of Gemma Hardy and The Road from Belhaven

The Abadi Family saga begins when a modern-day Romeo and Juliet story between a Palestinian and a Jew ends in predictable tragedy. The family flees to America to mend, but encounters only more turmoil that threatens to tear the family apart.
In the wake of the 1967 Six Day War, Tamar Abadi's world collapses when her sister-in-law is killed in what appears to be a terror attack but what is really the result of a secret relationship with a Palestinian poet. Tamar's husband, Salim, is an Arab and a Jew. Torn between the two identities, and mourning his sister's death, he uproots the family and moves them to the US. As Tamar struggles to maintain the integrity of the family's Jewish Israeli identity against the backdrop of the American "melting pot" culture, a Palestinian family moves into the apartment upstairs and she is forced to reckon with her narrow thinking as her daughter falls in love with the Palestinian son.
Fearing history will repeat itself, Tamar's determination to separate the two sets into motion a series of events that have the power to destroy her relationship with her daughter, her marriage, and the family she has worked so hard to protect. This powerful debut novel explores Tamar's struggle to keep her family intact, to accept love that is taboo, and grapples with how exile forces us to reshape our identity in ways we could not imagine.

Life is a book designed to help people understand themselves, based on science.
It explains psychological stress, mental disorders, and provides specific ways to deal with life challenges. The book describes many cases of patients the author saw over the years. Life examines the foundations of many influential self-improvement books, showing why they are appealing and why they don’t work for the most part.
The author spent 25 years studying psychology, working in universities and mental health institutions in the US, UK, and the Middle East. During that time, he moved from one school of thought to another out of dissatisfaction with their shortcomings and grandiose claims. In this book, he outlines, in a plain language, the basic premises of psychology, psychotherapy, and psychiatry that tend to be overlooked and demonstrates how any person can benefit from these scientific ideas. He explains when and why medications and psychotherapy are good, and when and why they can be harmful. The book discloses the ways in which psychologists and psychiatrists have been normalising mental disorders, and harming healthy people. It also shows the detrimental effects of myths about psychological wellbeing pushed by media, pharma companies, and psychiatrists. It opens a way for people to understand themselves and to grow with the help of real science.

A full-length poetry collection about climate change, animal rights, colonization, and the human condition.
In Joyce Thomas’s third book, the beauty, wonder, and marvel of the natural world are memorably evoked in meticulously crafted poems. At times elegiac, at times playful, poems take inspiration from—and hold witness to—the natural world as it is, as well as the abuses to which humans have subjected it.
Calling on the past and foreseeing into a future, both grappling with extinctions, Some Things in This World uses the power and transcendent possibilities of the sympathetic imaginative and the transformative magic of language to hold a mirror to our world.

The Uncharted Self explores how some individuals maintain their psychological well-being in the face of traumatic experiences, while others develop mental disorders, and many normalize harmful behaviours that prolong their suffering.
It examines the limitations of psychology – especially studies relying on self-report – in understanding the complex and multifaceted nature of traumatic events, and how people construct and cope with these experiences.
The book raises several interconnected, fundamental questions:
- What happens to us when we experience a traumatic event? Does everyone develop psychological disorders like PTSD?
- Do most people develop pathological reactions, or can some maintain their psychological well-being? How do they achieve this, and can we learn from them?
- How do people survive traumatic experiences?
- How did the Germans, Poles, British, Japanese, and Koreans maintain their psychological well-being after the Second World War?
Focusing on wars from a psychological perspective – especially the conflicts in Lebanon, Iraq, and Gaza – Dr Alali poses direct and critical questions:
- What prevents Jews and Arabs from living in peace?
- Why does this conflict persist?
- Why has Lebanon experienced civil conflict for decades?
- Why have Iraqis been fighting each other?
- Why has the Middle East been plagued by civil conflicts for many decades, if not centuries?
- Could these civil conflicts spread to Europe, North America, and Australia as many people from the Middle East migrate to these regions?
Talal Alali explores how people involved in conflicts present themselves, their suffering, and the conflicts. His analysis reveals that collective identity is one of the most powerful yet least understood drivers of humanity. Identity influences our behaviours, shaping us through social norms, culture, and personal beliefs. It can drive people to justify harm when they perceive others as fundamentally different or inspire cooperation when they identify as part of a larger, meaningful group. Despite numerous studies, articles, and books, many aspects of identity remain mysterious to both scientists and the general public.
In this book, Alali examines collective identity and its intricate relationship with both mental disorders and trauma within the context of war. He explores why psychology has struggled to fully grasp these dynamics and how we can better understand conflicts like those in the Middle East and Ukraine.

The Worried Well, selected by Eduardo C. Corral as the winner of the 2024 Autumn House Rising Writer Prize, is a tragicomic collection that explores the intersection of anxiety and safety in a chaotic world.
Anthony Immergluck balances the thin lines between healing and ailing, between humor and tragedy throughout this exceptional debut poetry collection. Reveling at precipices of imminent disaster while grieving at thresholds of relief, The Worried Well asks, how do we live loving and full lives while being confronted with our mortality? How does language carry us between liminal spaces?
The "worried well" is a term often used pejoratively by medical professionals to describe a group of patients who may be lacking visible symptoms but opt for testing and preventative interventions, who seek treatments for ailments that don't manifest readily in medical diagnostics. Immergluck unpacks the term by writing in the spaces where worry and wellness meet.
Despite the profound subjects explored, the collection carries us with a keen sense of humor, grounds us in the everyday, and rises to meet us with unexpected ruptures or sutures of language on each page. Summoning the restless dybbuk of Jewish mythology as well as David and Goliath, navigating hospital rooms, and surviving economic precarity, Immergluck creates a voice that is utterly new and needed in the literary landscape, a voice that reflects, "I don't / know why I told a worry / child not to worry when / surely the trick is to give / the worry a name and then / to call it again and again."

On a crisp morning at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, former Secret Service agent Sam Kilbrough stands only feet from the main stage as the president approaches.
A 9mm Glock G43 is carefully tucked inside his sky blue Gore-Tex windbreaker. When he expertly withdraws the gun and shoots the man he was once sworn to protect, it sparks the trial of the century: against sitting vice president Elijah Styles. Did the nation’s first gay VP conspire to murder his own boss, or was he the victim of a masterful set up? The jury (and the reader!) must solve a mystery fit for the Washington Post or the National Enquirer in our Trumpian times.
As the trial begins, the nation is divided – was Styles a scheming climber fixated on taking the Oval Office by any means, or a hero devoted to derailing a mad ruler’s tyrannical plans? Lawyer Mandela Briggs and his tiny defense team are determined to save their client from the death penalty, while the ambitious U.S. attorney is hell-bent on securing a conviction that will launch his campaign for the Senate. Chief District Court Judge Carolyn Bering must navigate the courtroom as tensions rise and the political stakes escalate.
But the decision ultimately lies in the hands of twelve jurors, each with their own biases and motivations. Among them is an inner-city high school teacher studying the combatants like she would her students, a local celeb restaurateur forced to confront his own prejudices, and a surfer dude law student who envisions himself trying the case. As they untangle the Styles conundrum, the reader is transported into their minds and those of the dueling lawyers, powerful witnesses, the leader of the free world and his accused traitors.
This thriller exposes the cultural petri dish of an “Us” versus “Them” society, diving behind the scenes to lay bare the human impulses driving our nation’s justice system and its politics. Was the assassin a trojan horse sent by Styles to kill President Magnus Thorne and propel the Veep into the White House, or a lone wolf with a warped sense of patriotism? Did Thorne stage the spectacle to evoke sympathy, justifying troops on American streets and his war on dissent? Were Styles and Kilbrough lovers?
Follow the trial’s twists and turns, from the West Wing to the courthouse to the court of public opinion, to see if anyone can bridge the gap between the search for truth and the quest for power. The fate of the nation rests on the jury’s decision.
If you enjoyed the political intrigue and high-stakes drama of Grisham and Turow, you’ll love Rampart by Truscott Jones.

A timely, vulnerable, and cutting-edge exploration of the pressures and pitfalls of writing while Black in America in this urgently needed addition to the national conversation of race, money, and art.
In the summer of 2020, when the nation was erupting in protest over the murder of George Floyd, Chad Sanders was quietly celebrating for selfish reasons. Why? After years of struggling to get his footing as a writer, he'd finally landed a New York Times op-ed. He wrote an essay about the hollow messages of concern he'd been receiving from white friends and colleagues. It went viral, and in the years that followed, he built a solid career as a creator—of books, podcasts, TV shows, and films—by mining his most painful experiences of being Black in America. Black pain for white money. For Sanders, this was a lucrative trade. One he thought he could work for the rest of his life. But it didn't take long for him to realize he, like so many other writers, was getting the short end of the stick.
In How to Sell Out, Sanders draws on his personal experiences to offer a wry, darkly comic look at the invisible realities of making a living as a Black writer who writes about race. He relays stories of his time in the tech business, his experiences in TV writers' rooms, his childhood participation in Jack and Jill, his family and relationships, and the struggles of sharing his racial trauma in exchange for cash. Combining meditations on historical and current events and the intersection of race and class with short creative essays, Sanders sculpts a freewheeling arc that is as funny as it is moving and thought-provoking.

In the 16th century, warships engaged at close range, sometimes with yards touching, and small arms fire and hand-to-hand combat were at least as important as the "great guns."
As time went on, the big guns became more decisive and increased in destructive power, range and accuracy. This book explores how naval armament, armor, ballistics and gunnery evolved from the 16th to 20th centuries from a scientific and technological perspective. It examines the functional aspects—the guns and their distribution on warships, the propellants, the projectiles and so forth—and examines the development of each.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez may be best known for his filmmaking and transcendent guitar playing/ songwriting with the Mars Volta, At the Drive-In, and other bands, but many people aren't aware that he is also an exceptional photographer.
Hunters in High Heels is Omar's first book of photographs, comprising photos taken between 2000 and 2006, during which the sheer scope of output and travel undertaken by the Grammy Award-winning musician and his fellow bandmates was nothing short of exhausting. Sharply juxtaposed with typical books of rock-and-roll imagery, Omar's photographs present a more elusive and evocative aesthetic that includes subjects such as highway signage, city skylines, and cloud formations, along with empty arenas and recording studios with friends and colleagues. This body of work provides an intimate glimpse into a specific period in the artist's life.
In her preface to the book, photo editor Stephanie Celaya writes, 'Omar is deeply interested in the world... an observer of changing landscapes, shifting cultures, and evolving relationships. Omar's camera has become his touchstone. The combination of his international recognizability paired with his desire for privacy provides a unique and captivating glimpse into his nomadic life. The irony that Omar Rodriguez-Lopez connects to and captures the quietest moments amid, and in between, some of the loudest places is not lost.'
Longtime fans of Omar's music and film will be regaled with the beauty of these photographs, while newcomers will be feted with the sublime visual treasures comprising Hunters in High Heels.

In 1977, seventeen-year-old Steven Hamper was a stonemason in the dockyards of Chatham, Kent, in England.
His heart, however, beat in sync with the punk rock tremors of the era, seduced by its celebration of amateurism. So, in a gesture of revolutionary defiance, he took a three pound club hammer and smashed his hand, vowing to never work again. In doing so, Steven Hamper metamorphosed into Billy Childish, a true Renaissance man.
Childish has since remained steadfastly true to punk's DIY cred, becoming one of the most recognizable and authentic voices in whichever artistic endeavor he undertakes. He has released over 150 albums of raw rock and roll, punk, blues, and folk; and has written many volumes of searing poetry as well as several autobiographical novels. But what he is perhaps best known for in recent years is his painting, for which he is now critically, commercially, and internationally feted. He hasn't changed course in any of his disciplines, though. The world just caught up with the sheer volume of his brutally honest work.
To Ease My Troubled Mind is a mosaic portrait collated over a year of interviews with Childish, as well as with close family, ex-girlfriends, band members past and present, friends, foes, collaborators, even his therapist. It is an unflinching, yet frequently spiritual and funny portrait of an artist who is now one of the most prolific and uncompromising of his generation. The volume also includes a foreword by British comedian Stewart Lee.

Kanara never meant to kill her mother. A lifetime in prison awaits her. But the judge gives her a break and sentences her to ten years at Zylen Mental Hospital.
At first glance, the hospital isn’t bad. The food is edible, the other patients don’t know about her crime, and Eliot, the intern assigned to her case, is gentle and kind, not to mention gorgeous.
But the hospital has a few secrets of its own.
Like the cryptic message on the wall in Kanara’s room, written in a cipher only she and her sister know.
And the new voice in her head that seems to be able to predict the future.
And the doctors whispering in secret that their experiment is failing, the patients are dying, and they’re all running out of time.

“This book begs to be read slowly…”— Tanner Olson, author of Walk a Little Slower
All roads lead to Spring.
From poet Sonya Matejko, also known as the voice behind @aforceofnurture, comes Everlasting Spring: 101 Poems for Every Season of Life, a collection of poetry that gives voice to whatever you’re feeling—no matter what season of life you’re in.
Curated into four sections, Everlasting Spring explores themes like chasing your desires, embracing change, triumphing over life’s challenges, and stepping into a season of growth. From empowering you to daydream louder to encouraging you to go easy on yourself, Everlasting Spring recognizes that we all navigate life’s seasons at our own pace—sometimes out of order.
Within these pages, you’ll find both a gentle push when you need motivation and a warm embrace when you need that more. Plus, a selection of seasonal prompts will guide you in reflection and into deeper self-understanding.
Until, eventually, you find your way to Spring.
You find your way to you.

Dee's world shatters in an instant when a devastating car crash leaves her trapped in limbo, each door revealing a fragment of her past. Driven to reunite with her soulmate, Luke, she travels through heartfelt and haunting moments, confronting the defining events of her life.

Soul is a compelling tale of love, loss, and the enduring power of the human spirit. While books like The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern captivate with their magical realism, Soul offers a psychological depth that echoes the introspective narrative of The Overstory by Richard Powers, blending speculative elements with profound personal reflection. Spearing's approach to love, loss, and destiny in a non-linear, memory-driven narrative adds a fresh layer to the genre, making Soul stand out with its emotional depth and innovative storytelling.

He’d just risked his life to save her and yet she couldn’t help but feel that he was by all means a completely different and altogether more threatening element than her.
She half expected the flowers to wilt in the heat of his eyes as he watched them, but instead they gently arched and fluttered at his caress. His hands were still stained in sweat and blood, and yet life received them anyway.

Baker had heard stories all her life of the Strike’s cruelty. In a world of mythical proportions, they were dragons to be feared if not slain. He was Death, king of the dragons, with a smile like spring sun, and eyes that saw everything with the wholeness of a full moon.
In the presence of his abundant generosity there was an eerie sense that she sat between his open jaws. More surprising was his ability to coax out some desire to stay.
No one seemed at ease in his kindness, nor could they reject its warmth. He was Death, but to Baker’s surprise and undoubtedly the chagrin of everyone else, Death was a likable man.

I have watched so many people think their husband is suited for the family to behead them. Knowing the family are watching every move you make could have repercussions on me when I become queen, for me to escape becoming queen means that I would have to vacate any royal titles that was given to me.
I know moving away from the family tradition means that they would not have to keep paying for any security that I may have, lucky for me when father passed away, I received some inheritance. The family did not like the idea that I wanted to be a strong independent woman with a voice, once the royal responsibilities had been given to other family members only then I was free from what ever came next within the family. Moving away from London to Seattle was not the smartest idea that I had produced, I ended up living with a nice gentleman. When the gentleman spoke, his voice was husky and sometimes harsh with me...

Benno Neuburger, a modest land investor from Munich, and Anna Einstein, daughter of a cattle dealer from Laupheim, marry in 1907.
They begin their lives together with great hope. It is a relatively prosperous time and a very optimistic one for German Jews who are enjoying a social renaissance in the industrializing, urbanizing rising star that is Germany.
It’s not clear that this good fortune might begin to unravel. Even as news of an assassination in an “obscure” Balkan corner of the continent passes like a cold wind through Munich on a warm beer-garden July day, people shudder but feel no great alarm.
Yet what follows is a war provoked by inter-colonialist competition. It is prolonged and bloody, giving way to German defeat, revolution, a brief socialist interlude in Munich, a merciless counter revolution, and the pitiless demagoguery of defeated generals. So marks the commencement of an era of nearly relentless distress and turmoil for Germany.
The lives of Benno and Anna and their extended families are amid this swirl—trying to make a life as they struggle to survive, as they cling to the hope of a peaceful resolution to crisis.
But to no avail. Munich becomes the epicenter of German fascism fed by nationalist resentment and racial madness – an offspring of European rivalries and colonialism. In the 1920s the brown shirts of Germany’s former African colonial army become the uniform of a domestic legion of terror.
In the 1920s Benno, Anna and their children live as close neighbors to the demagogue who will become the Nazi leader. A slow-moving horror show envelops them in the years that follow.
In the 1930s and 1940s: Emigrating children, a pogrom, a new war, evictions, “resettlement” via a train ride east . . . desperate acts of resistance, arrest, trial – as the holocaust plays out— all up close and personal: A human story told through the voices of those who lived it.

“You’re in our world now.” This bold tagline led Sony’s 1999 ad blitz for EverQuest, the year’s most anticipated massively multiplayer game.
Though just five words long, it challenged players to live in a virtual world beyond anything they’d experienced before—and delivered. The game that proved the MMORPG’s potential, EverQuest outsold all prior entries in the genre and was the most popular subscription game in North America for five years until Blizzard’s World of Warcraft overthrew it. Yet EverQuest lives on, with tens of thousands of players logging in every day.
Based on new interviews with EverQuest developers and veteran MMORPG developers, journalist Matthew S. Smith explores EverQuest's unlikely creation at a studio built to develop sports games, a rocky release which overwhelmed the game’s ill-prepared datacenter, the enticing game loops that placed EverQuest in a media firestorm around gaming addiction, and the real-money black market for EverQuest items that foretold the future of digital goods.

Advance Review:
"An emotional story filled with hope. This moving story chronicles the struggles of not only one firefighter's journey of recovery from severe burns but also the people of a small town in southern Montana. The story is researched thoroughly and conveys the emotions and courage of Dan, his co-workers and vast network of firefighters who supported him, as well as his friends and family. The story is also educational. I learned a lot about firefighting and the odds severely burned victims face in their recovery."

In a world where the boardroom is just as cutthroat as the wilderness, Isla Hartman reigns supreme.
As the commanding CEO of a powerful conglomerate, her every move is calculated, every word sharp, and every deal airtight. But beneath the polished exterior lies a secret she has buried for years—a lineage tied to a werewolf pack she abandoned in pursuit of control and independence. When her estranged father, the ruthless alpha of the Hartman pack, launches a chilling attack on her corporate empire, Isla’s dual worlds collide, forcing her to confront the wolf she has tried to suppress.
Enter Ronan Blackwood, a lone wolf with a haunted past and a bond to Isla that neither of them can deny. Drawn into her orbit by fate and necessity, Ronan’s rugged instincts and enigmatic presence awaken Isla’s suppressed instincts, stirring a connection that threatens her carefully constructed life. As her father escalates his campaign of intimidation, Isla must navigate treacherous power plays in the corporate world while contending with the primal forces within her—and the growing bond with Ronan.
As dark forces loom, Isla uncovers a conspiracy deeper than familial control: her father isn’t acting alone, and the shadows harbor a danger that could destroy both her empire and her pack. With her company under siege and her father’s ambitions threatening to dismantle her independence, Isla must decide what she’s willing to sacrifice—to protect her legacy, to reconcile with her heritage, and to embrace the wild power she’s always feared.
Balancing corporate intrigue with supernatural stakes, this tale of ambition, identity, and belonging will leave you questioning the fine line between control and chaos, and the bonds that bind us—whether we accept them or not.

The Writings of Norman Maclean: Seeking Truth amid Tragedy provides the first critical reassessment of this celebrated author's work in more than a decade.
In his study, Timothy P. Schilling focuses on Maclean's attempt, in A River Runs through Itand Other Stories and Young Men and Fire, to come to grips with the tragic side of human existence. From the 1938 death of his brother Paul to the 1949 deaths of thirteen firefighters in Montana's Mann Gulch wildfire, Maclean is driven by a desire to discover ultimate meaning--the truth--in the face of haunting tragedy. Through careful analysis of all of Maclean's published works, Schilling highlights the audaciousness of Maclean's quest to wrest free an answer from "the universe."
Ever open to scientific, literary, philosophical, and theological ways of viewing reality, Maclean found ambiguity, paradoxically, to be an essential tool for probing the truth. Beyond exploring Maclean's use of this tool, Schilling breaks new ground by considering Maclean's invocation of the Transcendentals in "A River Runs through It," noting the sly homage Maclean pays to Izaak Walton, examining Maclean's often-neglected "Other Stories," assessing Robert Redford's film adaptation of "A River Runs through It," and providing the most thorough exploration of Young Men and Fire yet available. With this book, Schilling offers a current and complete analysis of Maclean—one of the most iconic figures in Western American literature.

The United States nearly ripped apart at the seams in 1968, the most tumultuous year of Twentieth Century America. History herself seemed confused as she zigged and zagged and changed course several times.
Who were you in 1968? A hippie? An army draftee? Maybe you weren’t born yet, but you wonder about those flower children with bell bottoms and long hair. Or, you wonder about your uncle who grows silent at times. Maybe it was your grandparents. “Ok boomer,” you mutter to yourself.
Choices. It’s all about choices. The Vietnam War, and one’s reaction to it, defined the generation that came of age in the turbulent '60s. From the novel’s opening paragraph, the moral ambiguity of this war confronts a “f.....g new guy” in the mountainous jungles of central Vietnam. Does he shoot and ask questions later? Meanwhile, his high school buddy is bloodied by a policeman’s baton as he protests the war.
The novel will transport the reader to the tempestuous year of 1968. By depicting actual events in an artful manner, the novel shares aspects of narrative nonfiction. Creative and entertaining re-creation of historical events serves as an entryway into racial, class, cultural, political, and military history. The novel re-creates historical persons and events from an eyewitness perspective with the hope that the reader feels the moment as a lived experience. The events of 1968 are revisited, not as stale historical remnants, but as presaging the issues of today.
The novel features a pair of protagonists, high school classmates from a small midwestern town, who follow different paths. One is off to Vietnam as a combat infantryman, and the other joins the anti-war movement. To add spice to the stew, they are in love with the same woman. Each faces hard choices as they come of age: sex and relationships, drugs, hopes and disillusionment, and the dilemma of compulsory military service in a war of dubious purpose and questionable strategy and tactics. Race and bigotry challenge them, as do class and privilege.
From New Year’s Eve 1967 to the conclusion on New Year’s Eve 1968, the novel follows a chronological pattern of alternating chapters between the two main characters. Along the way, the characters weave in and out of the major events of the year and interact with actual, historical figures: the Tet Offensive, Eugene McCarthy’s shock-the-world candidacy in New Hampshire, the siege of Khe Sanh, young John Lewis recounting the early civil rights movement, urban riots following the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination in Los Angeles just as it appeared he might be the next president, the rise of hippie counter-culture, the riotous Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and segregationist George Wallace spouting grievances and mesmerizing a raucous crowd at Madison Square Garden.
To the readers from the generation now enjoying Social Security, remember the times, the tunes, and the tribulations. To the Vietnam vet, a belated, “Welcome home!” To younger folk, perhaps you will say, “OK Boomer, I understand you a bit better.”

A Civil War farmer's harrowing odyssey from battle to desertion ends in tragedy, revealing the era's tumultuous spirit through a series of poignant vignettes.
William Henry Howe, a modest farmer, leaves his pregnant wife, Hannah, and their small family behind in pursuit of a soldier's stipend and honor. Joining the Pennsylvania 116th regiment, Howe's journey reveals a nation and culture in turmoil. Each chapter of his story is punctuated by letters to Hannah, written to bridge the void of his absence as war and the seasons progress.
During the brutal winter siege of Fredericksburg, Howe, weakened by dysentery, fights valiantly in a devastating defeat, emerging as one of the few survivors. As his superior officers retreat to Philadelphia to regroup and overwhelmed medical facilities crumble, Howe embarks on a grueling 275-mile journey home to Perkiomenville to recover.
Upon returning to his rural family life, local bounty hunters descended on the small town, seeking a reward for capturing deserters. A failed attempt leads to the death of one bounty hunter and Howe's imprisonment. Torn from his young family once more, Howe is tried, convicted, and on August 26, 1864, becomes the only soldier hanged for desertion at Fort Mifflin. His body, rejected by the local graveyard, is finally laid to rest in the family plot, where one last letter was left for the widowed Hanna.
A gripping short story cycle, Notes from a Deserter uses a shifting point of view to explore themes of duty, sacrifice, and the cost of war on individuals and communities. It's a moving collection of stories that captures the essence of a nation and its people in crisis while highlighting the tragic and profound impact on one Pennsylvania family.

One word describes Louisiana fifty years from now after climate change intensifies: Soaked.
A nearly silent Cajun man is the last speaker of Louisiana French but doesn't know what he is saying. A Vietnamese woman recovering from the trauma of war looks for home in a hurricane. A farmer gambles his inherited land on the best marijuana Louisiana has ever known. Laughing in the face of oblivion, lending a hand to the hopeless, adapting in spite of tragedy, and enduring when everything else is gone, is what the people of Louisiana, Toby LeBlanc's people, do best.
"A fully imagined and always surprising take on life along the Gulf of Mexico fifty years and many disasters from now. Yet people-and the old spirit of Louisiana-endure." —MIKE TIDWELL, author of Bayou Farewell
"In these nine brilliant short stories, the Cajuns of southern Louisiana have found their George Orwell. LeBlanc has created vivid, complex, unforgettable characters that come to life on the page. It is great writing, and while these tales are timely, they may well become, like Orwell's 1984, timeless." —Joel Lafayette Fletcher III, author of With Hawks and Angels
"LeBlanc plumbs the depths of human nature, questioning whether people can actually change and, if they can, what is lost or saved in the process. A call for people to wake up to the realities of climate change, but to also never forget how to dream, Soaked is a collection that sings out its accented regional voice to speak with readers everywhere." —Joshua Myers, The Indiana Academy

American Psycho meets Blade Runner in Alien Nation—a mild-mannered android must infiltrate a society that idolizes sadism—or be erased.
In The Utopia Of Anthem, Everyone Wants To Be A Psychopath.
For eighteen-year-old Jason Freeman, this dream has always felt out of reach. A service android doesn’t dream of murder—he is made to serve. Even after years of intensive therapy, Jason remains awkward and meek. Unlike other androids, he feels genuine compassion, a trait blacklisted in Anthem. When he learns he’s to be replaced, Jason feels a glimmer of relief, knowing his struggle will soon end. Yet, the prospect of a soulless avatar taking his place fills him with deep, seething dread.
His childhood idol, Prince Marcus Kane, was raised to despise deviants like him. Despite all the lurid temptations that come with his stature, Marcus refuses to wash his hands in blood. He has always seen himself as hopelessly naive, a romantic—the antithesis of a psychopath. When his father, the godhead of Anthem, promises the love of his life to a despicable deviant, Marcus fantasizes about burning it all down.
But everything changes when the All-Father offers Jason a special pardon. To win back his right to exist, Jason must infiltrate the pantheon of tyrants, where murder is always graced with a smile. His mission will push Marcus to the brink of madness, as Anthem descends into civil war. And when the flames of revolution reach the doorstep of psychopaths, no one will be spared.
Alien Nation is a pulse-pounding story about desire and carnage, and what happens when society pushes us too far. Some themes and scenes may be disturbing to readers.

"The laughs keep coming as fast as the torts and the wild settlements. No one with the slightest interest in law, life, or shenanigans should miss this third volume of the Pap and Pup series." — Mike Abram, Retired Labor Lawyer
"The laughs never stop, as T.C. Morrison has once more struck comedy gold." — Jack Isler, Retired Physician
"WARNING TO READERS: This book is not intended to be consumed in a public space! Readers should find a quiet corner where others will not be disturbed by unexpected outbursts of loud laughter." — Richard Gilbert, College Professor

This short work contains the untaught philosophies of truth, morality and freedom, which are lacking in all cultures and religions.
It shows the painful truth that most preconceptions in society are founded on wrong behavior and evil ideals. In contrast, it also presents the cure to our fallen world, which is simple—but not easy by any means.
It is time to shout out what has been unspoken in greater society, and whispered only faintly in small pockets of occult groups. It is time to pull the veil.

My Chicano Heart is a collection of author Daniel A. Olivas's favorite previously published tales about love, along with five new stories, that explore the complex, mysterious, and occasionally absurd machinations of people who simply want to be appreciated and treasured.
Readers will encounter characters who scheme, search, and flail in settings that are sometimes fantastical and other times mundane: a man who literally gives his heart to his wife who keeps it beating safely in a wooden box; a woman who takes a long-planned trip through New Mexico but, mysteriously, without the company of her true love; a lonely man who gains a remarkably compatible roommate who may or may not be real—just to name a few of the memorable and often haunting characters who fill these pages. Olivas's richly realized stories are frequently infused with his trademark humor, and readers will delight in—and commiserate with—his lovestruck characters.
Each story is drawn from Olivas's nearly twenty-five years of experience writing fiction deeply steeped in Chicano and Mexican culture. Some of the stories are fanciful and full of magic, while others are more realistic, and still others border on noir. All touch upon that most ephemeral and confounding of human emotions: love in all its wondrous forms.

Her eyes were drawn to a narrow, single-column, stone lectern and the book it held.
She looked at the dark lines on the pages. Blood. She studied the lines. The fabric of this realm was parted. Something was bound into the book but has now been released.
It has been over a thousand years since the seals between this reality and the dark realm of Kur were broken and the wraith-like gallus invaded the continent of Dannum.
When the former priest of An, Adaru, escapes from the tower where the restored seals lay that prevent the gallus from crossing realms, war consumes the land with Adaru's machinations. A kingdom falls, ancient powers awaken and the power of Kur is unleashed again.
The guardian Nanaya and her companions barely stopped the gallus last time, but the Darisam civilisation was annihilated those 1000 years ago, and the land reduced to a poisoned desert, but for one ancient tower. Nanaya is forced to confront the terrors of her past, terrors that took everyone she ever cared for. Nanaya, now advisor to the present king of Southcastle. fears the past will repeat itself.
Elsewhere, Baraka, a desperate treasure hunter from the arid Fringe States that border the vast desert of The Territory, discovers secrets that irrevocably change him; and Samuel, a young man working on his family's farm in the western kingdom of Royaume d'Occident, realises his dreams of adventure, but in doing so loses his innocence.
Kur corrupts the land as Adaru moves closer to realising his terrible ambition of breaking the seals again and Nanaya, now the last guardian in Dannum, knows she is not strong enough to stand against him alone.

When Steven Knipp found his lover dead from an AIDS-related suicide, he was forced to confront his soul-crushing reality; he was only twenty-nine and suffered from the same deadly disease.
It was 1991 and AIDS was on the rampage. Gay men were dropping dead from a virus that had no treatment or cure. Faced with his impending demise, Steve was trapped in a vortex of blinding grief and terror, fearing he would never find love again.
Then he met David Jaeger, a gay Catholic priest grappling with demons of his own. The two men, who considered themselves damaged goods, found the love and companionship they desperately needed--even though it meant living their lives in secret.
Fearfully, Wonderfully Made is a riveting memoir about unimaginable loss and the healing power of love. At its core, it is an uplifting tale of hope and fortitude and a powerful reminder that we all have a choice: to live fully in the face of death, to choose love over fear.
ABOUT THE TITLE
Fearfully, Wonderfully Made is often used in a spiritual context and is derived from a verse in the Bible, specifically from Psalm 139:14 (New International Version): "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Fearfully, Wonderfully Made can also be understood as a poetic acknowledgment of human beings' complexity, intricacy, and beauty. It reflects an awe-inspiring recognition of the remarkable nature of human anatomy, physiology, and psychology. In this context, 'fearfully' implies a sense of reverence or respect for the sophistication of our design, while 'wonderfully' emphasizes the marvelous aspects of our existence. It recognizes the amazing characteristics of human biology, genetics, and the marvels of evolution that have crafted such a diverse and capable species.
This magnificence is also present in our daily lives as we experience exuberant moments mixed with horrible ones. We are reminded that everything we go through is meant to evolve the whole of our species toward a more enlightened version of ourselves.
This memoir reflects just one version, among the billions of lives on the planet, of two people who loved each other.

Seth Verman, the man once infamously convicted of a brutal double murder sixteen years ago, has returned to the world outside prison walls.
His conviction, now overturned, was seen as a landmark victory for those who believe in second chances and the fallibility of the justice system. But not everyone is eager to embrace the narrative of Seth as the wronged man seeking redemption.
Aden Weaver, a once-successful writer now grappling with the twilight of his career, Aden has found a singular focus in Seth’s release. While Seth carefully reconstructs a new life, offering kind gestures to neighbors and building a fresh routine, Aden cannot shake the memories of the original case—the grotesque crime scene photos, the compelling evidence that had once pointed squarely at Seth, and the sense of unease that has never quite left him.
For Aden, Seth’s every move is a puzzle piece, each polite smile and seemingly innocuous gesture hiding a sinister undercurrent. Despite the mounting pressure from friends and family to let the past go, Aden finds himself pulled deeper into the mystery, questioning whether his instincts are driven by the pursuit of truth or a desperate need to find meaning in his fading life.
Personal Demons is a psychological chess game between two men—one trying to reclaim a shattered life and the other desperately clinging to a belief that evil still lurks just beneath the surface.

Temporary Beauty is a collection of memories, poetic ponderings, travel adventures, journal entries, nightmares, and love stories, following Myles through her picturesque childhood in the Blue Ridge Mountains and on to her adventure-filled twenties as a photographer in the Pacific Northwest, discovering herself as an artist.
After her diagnosis of panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and OCD in high school, she spent her college years struggling to find her footing, finding solace in art, meditation, and travel. Temporary Beauty is a reflection of what it means to be a career-driven woman in modern society, an honest and unapologetic account of the darkness that mental illness can bring, and a conscious reminder of the fragility and beauty of human existence.
"And regardless of my mental illness, deep down I do believe that the day will come where I can walk through the woods, alone, and feel not an ounce of sadness or crippling fear. The grass will be filled with neon-green four-leaf clovers, and delicate pink blossoms will hang silently from the perfectly silhouetted fog-lined trees. I will smile to myself about all that I’ve accomplished. I’ll be proud of myself for defeating my unhinged mind. But that would mean that I’d have to have won the ultimate battle. The one between me and my anxiety. The one battle that never seems to end." — From Temporary Beauty
Myles Katherine Coleman is a writer and photographer. After being named Portland, Oregon’s Best Fashion Photographer, she moved back to her home state of Virginia to work on her other creative love, writing. The visual and lyrical poems, shed light on hard truths while inspiring readers to "Dance Through the Dark" to find "Glimmers," instead of tripping on triggers like the poem, "I Tripped on a Wound Today" about being a third-generation Holocaust survivor. As the creator of Put It To Rest, a mental health literary online hub, Lindsay believes in putting painful stories to rest by writing them out to let them go: Breaking Up With the Cobalt Blues weaves in and out of childhood, coming of age, and adulthood on a healing journey to put the past behind, embrace the present, and trust the future.
In the opening poem, "I Call This Trauma", the narrator discovers that untying "knots" to fix everything is fruitless, eventually turning to acceptance in "Hope, Are You There?" Breaking Up With The Cobalt Blues culminates in a heroic call to action to break up with victimhood to embrace trauma healing reflected in the beauty of the "northern lights."
Breaking Up With the Cobalt Blues takes readers on a journey from victimization to becoming self-empowered curators of life, despite the freefall from grace into everyday beauty like being open to receiving "Glimmers."
So just maybe one can never really break up with the "blues" but there's no reason why the blues can't morph into a softer hue that's part of life rather than a defining moment.
Breaking Up With the Cobalt Blues is about making peace with grief and not letting the past define you, but recreating a future that accepts that pain is a part of life, allowing growth. The concluding poem "Stay Gold" is a tribute to the friends we've lost too soon, accepting that only the good die young.

Fanny Fitzpatrick is back again, with a whole new set of mythic problems that could ruin her friendships with Athena and Gemma.
It's the end of the school year. For most kids, it's time to relax and get ready for summer. For Fanny, there's work. She has a brand-new baby brother, and she's been hired by Zeus to look after his "injured" son. And she still has her and her friends' cheesemaking business! Fanny is overwhelmed.
But then she meets three sirens who want Fanny to join them on Feather Island for a summer of singing, instrument playing, and fun at the beach. The program is totally free and could start an amazing musical career-the thing that Fanny has always wanted the most.
Athena and Gemma are dead set against it. Athena says that the sirens are bad news; that their whole purpose in life is to lure men to their deaths with their beautiful singing. Gemma says that Feather Island is part of a network of unmappable islands, the type of place where criminals and sketchy organizations hoard their wealth and do their crimes.
Surely, the sirens don't do that anymore, right? All that stuff was a long time ago. If the sirens want to keep their island paradise a secret, well, that's not so weird, is it? Fanny has talked to them, and she just knows that they aren't as evil as everyone says. They are perfectly nice ladies. Right?
Follow Fanny Fitzpatrick as she navigates big sisterhood, friends who disapprove of her life choices, burning ambitions, and a bunch of sirens luring her away to their private island.

In this, the follow-up to his first book, Gerald Cowan provides the grand total of 430 more limericks – all new, all original and all written by the author himself!
As before the emphasis is very much on humour with the hope that they will raise a smile, a giggle and hopefully a few laugh out loud moments. More limericks mean more weird, wacky and wonderful characters and a variety of bizarre, often comical situations. Which ones to mention here? Well it's difficult to make a choice but here are a few characters the reader may want to meet or perhaps avoid at all costs!
Dot a kinky contortionist
Paul, a very camp tightrope walker
Mr. Sweeney, a lifeguard with a strange dress sense
Fay who gets up to all sorts when stuck in a lift
Aggie and Ray who find a new lease of life when they acquire a bidet
Ted, a cross-eyed knife thrower
Some of the limericks are a little bit naughty, even risqué! However, the British have a strong tradition of bawdy humour and this collection hopefully upholds and pays tribute to this heritage!

"Throughout the day, he couldn’t help but notice the contrasts between them. She soiled her hands to heal, and he’d soiled his to kill. Yet her hand had found his so gently among the crowd, and she’d asked him to stay with her. He wondered how she would treat him if she knew how different they truly were. What would she do if she discovered how many lives he’d destroyed?"

“You claim to heal with your hands,” he whispered, “and you’d use them to wound me with such a tender gesture?”
She felt trapped between two intentions, no longer able to explain herself.
“I’m trying to save you,” she replied with a stifled breath.
The blade of his other hand traced over her collarbone and then her neck. She sucked in a breath and flattened her back against the column behind her. He’d only mimicked a version of her gesture, but she reacted as if it were his touch that caused pain.
“But who’s going to save you?” he asked, his eyes full of a pushing and pulling tide, yanking her forward and shoving her back as he whispered threats but kept his tone gentle.

In March 2024, the NAACP and Children's Rights filed a lawsuit against Minnesota, alleging that the state's child protection agencies have discriminated against Black families.
The lawsuit claims that the state's child welfare system has violated civil rights laws and that Black families are overrepresented at every step of the system.
Some of the allegations in the lawsuit include:
- Black children are more likely to be investigated by child welfare services than white children
- Black children are more likely to be removed from their homes than white children
- Black children are more likely to have their parental rights terminated than white children
- The state uses federal funds to discriminatorily surveil and separate Black families
The lawsuit highlights the alleged discrimination in Hennepin and Ramsey counties, where Black children are overrepresented in the child welfare system. For example, in Hennepin County, Black children made up more than 53% of all reports in 2019, and in Ramsey County, Black children made up more than half of the children whose parents had their rights permanently terminated.
This is my tragic story.

*** The Idea Miners Trilogy Summary ***
The Idea Miners trilogy is written for middle-grade readers. It’s a fantasy action tale packed with excitement and mystery that young readers love. Woven throughout the books are historical facts meant to spark an interest and appreciation in the reader for the great gifts of ideas to the world.
Overview
Structure: Each book is structured as a mysterious adventure with a revealing epilogue. The adventures involve youth from our world traveling with seers, dwarfs, and elves into a dangerous world populated with bloodthirsty trolls and fierce giants to retrieve yet-to-be discovered ideas. The epilogues summarize the discovered ideas that are obliquely hinted at in the adventures.
Premise: The premise is that all ideas originate in a parallel world called the Land of Lights (LoL). The ideas are contained in buried, glowing spheres called logos. The logos must be mined and transported to our world, which is called the Land of Harvesters (LoH). It’s only in the LoH that the logos can be understood and used by educated individuals called harvesters.
Point of view: The point of view is that of a young boy named Joey, a farm boy from 1750. (The year was chosen so the ideas ‘discovered’ are yet to be known in his world.)
Characters: The LoL is populated with logologists (overseers of discovered logos), miners (giant creatures with glowing eyes that manage the logo mining sites), seers (members with the power to visualize the contents of a logo), diggers (dwarfs skilled at digging for buried logos), trolls, elves, and others.
Miners: Miners have a special skill to sense the buried logos but are susceptible to their hidden ideas, causing them to take on bizarre characteristics of the yet-to-be discovered ideas.
Children: Young children from our world are needed to assist in persuading the miners to release their finds. The miners view those from the LoH as royalty and treat them as honored guests revealing things to them that they’ll tell no others.
Pyramid of Knowledge: The longterm objective of those working in the LoL is to complete the Pyramid of Knowledge. Once the last idea, called the One, is harvested, the LoL and the LoH will merge, and all war, disease, and famine will end.
Individual book summaries
The Lost Lake Dig: In the first book, The Lost Lake Dig, the protagonist, Joey, is confronted by a strange man who transports him into the LoL where he joins an expedition with his long-lost best friend, a seer, and two digger dwarfs. A miner is acting strangely and is believed to have found an important logo.
The Twisted Tree Dig: In the second book, The Twisted Tree Dig, Joey returns to the LoL to rescue a young dwarf friend who has been captured by a crazed miner under the influence of a logo.
The One: In the final book of the trilogy, The One, Joey attends a dwarf wedding in the LoL and is stranded as the trolls revolt and threaten the future of the worlds by destroying the mining operations throughout the LoL.

A message for hopeless romantics, romantic idealists, and developing men and women who seek the passionate depths of their natural masculine and feminine qualities.
With signature depth and insight, Gregory V. Diehl explores life as a man who embraces the boldest romantic ideals, a man who pursues romantic self-expression, self-determination, and self-actualization as his primary mission in a world so often set against it. His new book examines the hidden depths of masculine intimacy and passion, romantic compatibility, a man’s unignorable sexual curiosity and burden, and the challenging quest to fall in love and bond with one’s complementary soulmate in willing interdependence between the masculine and feminine.
A self-actualized man in romance seeks the influence found only in the right woman, the feminine force who brings color, beauty, and connection to his estranged life. The Romantic Ideal—The Highest Standard of Romance for a Man helps men identify mature and healthy ways to deal with these timeless trials of masculinity. For women, it offers eye-opening transparency about the quintessential masculine experience of sex, love, intimacy, and romantic aspirations beyond dating, flowers, and trying to get laid.
Includes a feminine foreword by registered psychotherapist Svetlana Sevak, MA, RP.

In the sweeping epic Bellosio: An Age of Miracles, destiny and divinity collide on a terrestrial planet where life was seeded by an ancient, ethereal being.
This creator, known as the "Cog," has nurtured three distinct primate species, each with their own path and purpose. Yet, as the unseen Cog is revered by many, skepticism brews among the human-like species, threatening to unravel the fabric of their shared existence.
Set against the backdrop of a civilization teetering between the late middle ages and the dawn of enlightenment, an inept emperor's reign is challenged not only by external threats but also by the internal turmoil of succession. His daughter, the unexpected heir, grapples with her destiny, her duty, and the shadow of an assassination plot that could have changed the course of history.
Amid political intrigue and ancient prophecies, the abbot of the primary Cog abbey-bound by childhood ties to the emperor-finds himself at the heart of a power struggle that could ignite a civil war. As alliances shift and enemies emerge from within, the very essence of belief is put to the test.

In 2051, a seven-month-old Corgi named Bali, full of liveliness, ran away from his residence in Toronto, Canada, in a quest for freedom and ventures.
He fell into the hands of two young pickpockets who planned to steal small valuables in Toronto and resell them in New York City. In his run-off, Bali constantly faces adversities created by inconsequential human activities, the so-called progress. He clashed with Climate change and the uncoordinated advances in new modes of flying transportation. During his journey, he stumbled into the house of genius scientists. Unbeknownst to him, their experimental device teleported him to the closest parallel dimension. During teleportation, an artificial intelligence microchip unintentionally left inside the apparatus merged animal and machine intelligence into one living being. This helped manage his landing in the soap opera the scientist's son's girlfriend was watching on television. The episode was a rerun of the award-winning South Korean melodrama "Kisses and Tears" from 2042.

IN ENGLISH: In Rome, in the midst of a cold winter of the eighties, preparation for Christmas are fervent, and in the Vatican City, in a workshop of sacred objects and clothes, the day of the old Rinaldo begins, as always, among tourists that crowd the streets and the smell of freshly baked pizza. In the same hours Commissioner Rosco greets the boys of his team before the transfer to the Rieti's police station: the punishment for making a mistake during his last case. A forced cloister that will become an opportunity to show off his vsion and investigate a crime committed thirty years earlier. The two seemingly unrelated situations will interweane in a grow of incredible events, after the strange death of old Rinaldo, while a creapy voiceover follows the entire unfolding of the narrative. With a clear style and a language steeped in sacredness and faith, Daniela Alibrandi offers the reader a MultiDimensionCrime full of twists and turns, based on the eternal struggle between Good and Evil.
